Folks, when one makes a mistake, even if inadvertent as in this case, one should apologize and try to make amends.

I had posted the picture that used to be with this post, as had many newspapers and blogs, because reportedly, it was a wedding picture of the son of Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad and the daughter of wanted Indian crime lord Dawood Ibrahim. It was first published as such in Mumbai Mirror; and was subsequently reproduced widely. (e.g., here and here).

I have just learnt, thanks to as astute reader, that the picture was NOT of that couple but of a totally different couple in Chennai who are, understandably, irked at having been associated with the controversy. See here and here.

I certainly do not wish to cause either offense or angst to this couple and have, therefore, immediately removed the offending photograph from my blog. I apologize to the Chennai couple for any inconvenience and I sincerely wish them the very best in their future wedded life.

As to the other deatils in this blog entry (about the Miandad-Dawood wedding), as per the sources cited, they are to the best of my knowledge, correct.

Yes, this is disgusting. There is nothing to celebrate in the acts of a criminal. If the rumor that Dawood may be in Pakistan is true then Pakistan should give him immeditely to Interpol because he is wanted man. My respect for Miandad has totally gone away after reading this eye-opening report. I am glad we are highlighing this disgraceful behavior.

Mila, as I had said way back when this was first posted, I do not want to wish ill to anyone and children should not be condemned for the sins of their fathers. However, I think of all this gold and of where it came from. Her father is a condemned fugitive gangster and has been implicated in some horrible crimes and mass bombings. There is probably a lot of blood behind that gold.
