The lateefa may sound a bit weak only because of the reason that its quoted in isolation. Those who have read Shafique-ur-Rehman’s work would be able to make a good sense out of it. He had a distinct, witty prose, which would engross you. No wonder, it is a norm for any avid book collector in Pakistan– or hailing from Pakistan– to possess Shafique-ur-Rehman’s entire collection.

It’s a pity that youth in Pakistan has lost the reading habit, and it barely knows about Shafique Sahib or his other influential contamporaries. However, youth is not to be blamed for that.
