This vehicle which is seen near Karachi’s landmark teen-talwar only mentions the town of its owner on a tri-coloured number plate indicating association with the ruling Party. Is it a customized plate or is this a license enough to ply a vehicle on the roads of Pakistan?

I always wonder why is there no standard way of having car plates? everyone has there own color, size, font, etc.
I guess it’s jut part of a bigger issues.

@ Aamer: There is an approved, uniform version of number plates and most cars in Karachi have those standard ones.
The problem is with these idiotic, illiterate, feudal-minded PPP leaders and jiyalas. They think that now that they are in power, this country’s is their father’s (or their father-in-laws in case of our ‘esteemed’ President). DEATH to PPP.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to see customized number plates in Pakistan or elsewhere. Such plates have been quite a rage not only in Pakistan but abroad as well and people should be allowed to express their preference or affinity with a with a certain group, party or cause.
Of course if the owner is trying to impress somebody with his/her name or affiliation through a customized number it is quite alright – as long as he/she retains the legally registered number plate visibly displayed either on the front bumper or at the back according to the transport laws of that particular city, province or state.
On the other hand, if a person wants to show some authority, hold a swagger or browbeat somebody since he/she is a bearer of such number plate, IT MUST NOT BE ALLOWED AT ANY COST and traffic authorities should levy a fine, give a warning and even confiscate the vehicle.
It is a criminal offence to display Registration Plates other than the prescribed Size, Shape, Colours, Lettering Sizes,Tempering ones officially issued. The vehicle Registration codes are absolutely clear on this.
The traffic police all over the country and particularly Pakistan’s Finest of Islamabad pay ZERO attention to this Crime.
It is a well known fact that all criminal elements and particularly the terrorists and Car-bombers are using Fake Plates.
Who cares.
The “who cares” factor should be applied here because it should not matter. Several countries have citizens pay a little more to have their names customized on the plate. This is no different from having political stickers etc on your car. I don’t know pakistan’s plating convention but if this plate falls under it then it should’nt be a big deal. Also, does pakistani law requires both front and back plates or accepts only front plate and the back plate can be anything??? If they are breaking the law…thats just sad!

Balochistan
While everyone in the Govt. is busy making statements about Swat and Taliban (The Butchers) nobody is doing anything about our biggest Province Balochistan. I see a lot of comments about the butchers on this forum also but NO ONE is making any comment about the INSURGENCY in Blaochistan.
Please lets not forget that we have already lost one part of Pakistan and we cannot afford to do that again .
Govt. of Pakistan should stop ignoring the situation and sort out the problem of Balochistan not by gun but by talking to the locals and sincere efforts should be made to resolve the problems.
Funny and disgusting at the same time. It’s not just the PPP, it’s all the ghundas and badmashes that roam our streets and alleys with disregard for any kind of law or regulation. We are truly a free nation. Nowhere freedom is exercised more than in Pakistan. Jo chaho karo, jisay chaho chaanta maro, jahan chaho thook do aur jo plate chaho laga lo gari par. This is the Pakistan Jinnah made. Jinnah who? it’s not long before our children will forget the founder and instead consider Zulfikar and Benazir as the founder and saviour of Pakistan.
