One thing that has always made me feel proud as an "expat" Pakistani, is how everyone feels so passionately affectionate towards our late Quaid.
My only slight annoyance is that, if we can unite ourselves with admiration and humility over this one (great) man, and feel so much pride, why we cannot strive TOGETHER for a more promising future for our country.
If we honestly still have hope for Pakistan, then why can't we take more pro-active roles in making sure we restore/create the "promised" land of our forefather?

Mr. Jinnah, we are sorry if we did not live up to your expectations. For that, we are sorry Mr Jinnah. Inshallah, we will rise up from the ashes and transform your dream into a reality. According to experts, today, we are a democratic society trapped in an undemocratic state. Tomorrow, we assure you Mr. Jinnah, we will become a democratic society flowering in a democratic state.

Sohail Khalid says:

Also If someone can enlighten me. I remember reading somewhere that the ambulance that was bringing Quaid to the hospital broke down and that the Quaid died on the road side. Is there any truth in it?

Sohail Khalid - i remember reading a similar article in dawn. it was in sunday edition of either late december 08 or early jauary of 09. it described how for an hour fatima jinah had to fan the flies off the quaid, while he laid in a stretcher waiting for the ambulance to be repaired.

the author lamented how there was no other ambulance and one to receive the pakistani leader when he came back from the mountain, where he had gone to recuperate. he died shortly afterwards.

sorry i can't be more specific but i know for sure it was sunday dawn in the 2nd half of december 08 or first half of jan 09.
