Adil Najam

Looking at this picture just makes my blood boil (click on picture for a larger view). I do not know the details of the situation, nor who did what or said what or who is at fault or what fault. But the body language and attitude depicted here just has me reeling.

What is being said and how did this end? I would love to find out, but I suspect I know already. Does anyone want to reconstruct how this conversation and confrontation might have gone?

Regular readers know of my fascination with cops, but it seems I am not the only one. Asma who blogs at Metroblog Islamabad as ‘A for Apple’ posted this photograph as part of a bunch of police related photographs from her collection. The picture was reprinted at Online News, is by Ehsan Khan and the original caption is suggestive (although one wonders about the authenticity of the details provided):

A boy speaks [sic] makes a point with a model policeman of Islamabad Traffic Police after violating the traffic rules near Parliament House. The boy eventually made his point with the policeman and was not issued any ticket.

Hahaha….Adil, I knew it was just a matter of time when you came along and edited my comment :).

Asma, you are right, my mistake. This picture was posted by a reader Sa’ad in response to your story on Metroblog Islamabad; which, of course, was in response to a differnt picture sent by the same reader.

Yes, it is probably Froebels. The uniform fits as does the apparantly posh location, and expensive car.

If the picture was in the last year ago, the policeman would not have let him go, no matter whose son he was (that’s probably why the kid is so agitated). The new islamabad traffic police are very professional and strict. They will never bug you unless you violated some traffic rule, but when you do commit a violation, they will never let you go. I’ve asked many taxi drivers about the new islamabad traffic police and the consensus is always positive. The taxi wallay are full of praise for them.

These kids are obviously coming from/going to school…..can anyone guess from their uniform what school it is? I grew up in Karachi so I can’t tell.

My guess is that they are from Froebel’s.
