This photograph, published in Jang, shows a part of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Karachi, during load-shedding. In the background you see National Stadium Karachi, all lights blazing, during a domestic cricket match.

  2. There are quite a few things wrong. The picture tells us the story with what is wrong in general with our country.

We obviously got our priorities wrong. I see there is one comment against ‘professional sport’. I note that people give sports more attention then what it deserves.

But thats just one part of the picture. Someone points about the lack of city planning, true to some extent but not entirely. Gulshan is not that unplanned as ‘Angara Goth’. Now if you have not visited Anagara Goth, I suggest you do visist the area near Teen Hatti. You will know what lack of planning means.

The third thing is total disrespect towards the need of a big segment of population and favouring a small section of 22 players and may be 5 spectators. Now we dont know if National Stadium has its own generator for this energy stsem, but if it does , it proves my first point. They got it wrong.

i seriously don’t get it guys . OK makes sense when street lights are on !! its a game.. it might be a lil brighter outside !!! but darker inside the stadium . and secondly .. these lights don’t start glowing as soon as the the button is switched on . it takes time for these towers to be fully functional.. and during a match you cant have a lights switching on break ! adat bangayee hai complain kernay ki.. Karachi walo shukar kero. we never had THIS LITTLE loadshedding in summers EVER !! HAn ya NA?
