Jauhar Ismail

The photo to the left shows stormy clouds gathering over Islamabad on December 16, 2008.

Today, which is just six days later from when this photo was taken, I believe there is another storm brewing in Islamabad on its political and foreign relations front. Not withstanding the conspiracy theories still circling around in Pakistan, there is growing consensus in the rest of the world that Pak-based elements were behind Mumbai attacks. Gordon Brown served a notice to Pakistan during his visit and it seems that the U.S. agrees. Moreover the steps Pakistan has taken so far haven’t been very convincing. India has called a meeting of its envoys throughout the world to discuss next steps. The last time such a meeting was called was before the 1971 war. This has led the U.S to send Adm. Mullen back to Pakistan for a second time in as many weeks. Meanwhile Pakistan high commission in India has confirmed that it has received a letter from Ajmal Kasab.

Here is an article from Dawn and the Washington Post Editorial on this very issue:

(ii) The Washington Post

The last time Pakistan was so isolated diplomatically against India was during the aftermath of Kargil.

In another development Pakistan Airforce suspended commercial flights in major Pakistani cities today and did a low altitude fly-by as part of their increased vigil.

One can only hope that our leaders especially the security establishment can comprehend the gravity of the situation and take steps in the right direction.

In both India and Pakistan there are those who want to keep the words of war high who want to incite hatred and play on each other. The sad thing is how easy it is for these people to get the masses behind them. We must, in both our countries, stand firm against them.

Pakistan likes to eat everything but doesn’t want to get fat. If you keep on eating good food with oil then your looking for a tire around your waist. Keeping these religious fanatics grow into a paralegal force is liking eating oil They are the ones who are restricting the growth in Pakistan because according to them, each one of them, Pakistan should be governed as they see. Forget about the majority of the land. Now with this heavy tire around their waist they cannot avoid heart attack. It is long overdue, because for past two or three decades they have been endulging them and their dangerous ideas.

Just think about this tire which is around the waist of Pakistan. I think everyone feels it and its constriction in movement.

Ay tire a lahooti us deen say mout behter jis deen say perwaz main ati ho kotahi.

Think about these mulla’s as the ones which initiate kotahi in the perwaz of a nation. There is a nation which is made of achar (pickle) and Islam which wants to destroy diversity and this diversity is life of the Pakistani nation. Government should a leash on the tire which is restricting the growth of Pakistan, Pakistan wake up from your slumber and exercise this tire.

A big hug to my Indian Brothers, Afghan brothers, American brothers, and to all others. We have a short life, lets enjoy and live in peace. Ameen.

War is not our making, let us not be held responsible for senseless murder and killing and destruction. We are civilians and have simple ambitions – lets keep it that way.

  5. Indian says:

I don’t see ne solution coming up in the near future primarily because lack of civilian control in Pakistan. Power is dominated by Army and ISI. Every soldier who joins the Pak army is taught that he has to take revenge for 1971 war.

It has to be the people of both countries who shud b deciding the future. Until we r stuck on past, nothing concrete can happen.
