Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has recently released the university rankings of Pakistan. The rankings are generating so much interest that I am receiving four to five emails daily with people forwarding me the same link to HEC’s ranking web page. (Scroll down to see rankings and details).
I am kind of disappointed with my alma-mater, NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, ranked at number 10 out of the 13 Engineering Universities of Pakistan. The photo to the right-below shows few views of NED University.
I genuinely and of course with a little bias think that NED university should have been ranked among the top 3. When I make such claim; I do it on the basis of sheer engineering talent I’ve personally seen at NED. But rankings do not take into account the student talent. They look at finances, faculty, number of students etc. My university mates as well as the university officials have already started the discussion on how to improve the rankings next year. This discussion is going on at many NED online alumni groups. I am sure similar discussions are going on within other university alumni too. This I think, is a positive sign of publishing a list like this as it does create competition.

da ranking is gud but i request hec to help ur uni in incresing there grade at world level n 2 decrease their charges so that a normal student with marks can easily afford uni dues n get more quality edu which iz da true reward 2 his efforts…………………..i hope dat the officialz of hec will considered my request
I think the ranking is based on the previous results of the universities.But iam very upset due to the ranking of engineering and medical university.It must be improved and NED university should be in top 5.Please it is my request to the concerned authorities.

I think that if i see in the context of Ranking of universities in Pakistan,i think this only waste of time and nothing else.
If u liked to ranked pakistani university you first of see what is the system of our education, which only gives us student but we like to have in future best scientist. there is no scientist which is capable to compete even india scientist,europe which subjects read since 100 year before,we studty now a days.its just a joke that our universities have the capasity that they can have ranking as well.first look at u where u are standing in the world in terms of education.i think if u ranked pakistani insititution on top i think THE INSITITUTION WHICH PRODUCING SINGERS” now a days we are on top in singing and other related things,which also we copy from europe and now on top.there is no creative meterial produce from pakistani mind except singing ””””
