I lived in Khairabad Kund in the thirties. I crossed this bridge many times on our way to Rawalpindi. After crossing the bridge, one entered NWFP and there were 3/4 tunnels before the next railway station of Khairabad arrived. The station was completely in a fort and the staff came out only when the train was arriving. Road bridge was under the train bridge.

  2. It is a very historic place and i proud to be because this bridge is in my village’jabbi khair abad’

Two photos added to the post today. One under 1883 and another with the exact year unknown but circa 1900s. Both photos can be seen in the section “Historic Photos of the Bridge” of the post.

    Dear Owais,
Excellent historical description of the Attock Bridge. I have read your other articles as well. They are all quite informative and good to read. Keep up the fine work.
I took a few pictures of the Attock Bridge in 2007 during my visit to Pakistan. If you are interested, I would be glad to send you copies of the same.
