Another unfortunate development of the day and I am unable to understand who is advising government of making such foolish decisions.

It seems now that the Government of Pakistan has banned Kamran Khan Show as yet another casualty in the ongoing saga of the Chief Justice of Pakistan’s (CJP) removal from office. Geo has just made it public and Kamran Khan appeared on Geo News just a few moments ago and apologized to viewers that he would not be able to present his show due to this ban (audio of what he said, here).

It was Kamran Khan Show in which Mr Wasi Zafar’s misbehavior on VOA was reported (video of that program here). He was also the host of Geo’s live transmission which showed and commented on the misbehavior with Chief Justice of Pakistan and his family last Monday. I guess Kamran Khan has finally paid the price of speaking the truth and his efforts to present facts to the people of Pakistan.

GEO TV website has this information on how the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has banned this show:

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has imposed ban on “Aaj Kamran Khan Key Sath”, the famous programme of Geo Television Network.

“Aaj Kamran Khan Key Sath” has been stopped as the government has imposed ban on it, said the spokesman of the Geo Television Network.

It was regretted at 11:05 PM, when this programme starts daily, that the programme could not be aired due to government ban.

Reacting to the ban on this programme, Kamran Khan, the host of the programme, condemned the government action and said that there was no other agenda of the said programme except making people aware of real facts and correct analysis.

This is a direct attack on freedom of press and freedom of expression. Looks like we will now see more bans if Pakistani Media didn’t cooperate with the government. I am also wondering what will happen to the Ansaar Abbasi now. We should all condemn this unjust action? But HOW?

Here are two samples of video clips from the Kamran Khan Show related to this issue.

Why we start fighting? The intolerance behaviour you are criticizing is depicted by yourself. If educated guyz like Omar R. and Adnan can lower their dignity by personal comments what you expect from others.

  2. Akif, “you” doesn’t mean YOU only as Akif Nizam. By you here means people who “trusted” mush as a “savior”.

We desperately wanted to believe that Musharraf means what he says because he was the only one saying those thing

True. I know you are not lying here but then I also assume you are a person who would have experienced Zia’s martial law in past. Didn’t your education tell you that dictator always use such issues as a tool to keep them in power? if Zia used Religion then Musharraf also used Islam to keep himself in power. Both has no intrest with their “advertised” agenda. Since its our national duty that we don’t learn from our past, we repeat same mistakes again and again. If Zia used “Jihad” to grab more and more dollars then Mush used WAR ON TERROR and TALIBAN factors to fill his pockets. It was even mentioned a recent report after CJ removal that Mush kept lying US about taliban and terrrorism and kept demanding US to give more money. At that time religious people got excited and now liberal felt themselves in heaven after finding mushi their messiah. This is something which gives a laugh nothing else and then we curse medarassah people and declare them “illerate”. After all we have no other shelter to hide our own ignorance.

adnan beta get a life — if memory serves me well, not too long ago you were badmouthing the jang group and geo and the news in particular being sellouts — yaad aaya ya conveniently bhool gaye? akif, there is no basement he needs to go back to but a hole

  4. It seems that Musharaff time is over!! he is making grave mistakes and then apologizing the same as it is done by outsiders. Though same is done by Police under Sherpao.

Point is who ordered police to do this. I am sure that man is not going to be exposed rather they are going to punish Policemen who were ordered to do so.

I think Musharaf party is over!! as “Masters” are searching for his replacement.

  5. Akif Nizam says:

Adnan, congratulations ! you have managed to pull me into this irrelevant discussion. So I’ll force myself to make a statement but no more.

You’re right; you “have always spoken against” ….”moderation, enlightenment and the freedom of press.” You have always equated these value with Western servitude. If my memory serves me right, we have never discussed Musharraf directly on this forum. We have only argued over ideology and values and visions as they pertain to Pakistan.

The reason why this episode is especially painful for liberals is because we believe in these principles. We desperately wanted to believe that Musharraf means what he says because he was the only one saying those things. It’s not like there was a lot of choice.

The crowd that you placed on the other side of the “equation” as I, not only doesn’t believe in these principals, they are actually loathe to them. This is as unbalanced an equation as can be.
