Another thirty killed by a desperate dissilluioned youth fed up with the Chief Minister saga and failure of institutions in Pakistan. He, by chance, happened to come across a car laden with explosives and the planned itenerary of some Chinese engineers and then did exactly what virtually anyone from any religion would do in similar circumstances: expressed his frustrations by blowing bystanders to pieces.
Adnan, could you let me know how to insert a smiley face in here ?
They’ve always been around, but in the past the Pakistani state has used them in Afghanistan and Kashmir, not to mention Xinjiang, Chechnya and against Pakistan’s own Shias… the room for them to operate in these locales is getting limited, and they perceive the support they are used to getting from the state to be wavering, so its no wonder they choose to hit us now, even though there are plenty of us who are skeptical of the drop in support for them, because the army and the ISI haven’t cut off all their ties to them, and probably never will…
While I agree with you that its a no-win situation for Mush, I’d say that if he cares even a little for the future of this country, he would cut off all ties with the militants now and brave the repercussions… there will be reprisals, but I think its something we have to bear, given the alternative of not cutting off ties with them and then watching them make us even more of a pariah at the international level and leaving us at the mercy of the militants locally who will undoubtedly increase in influence if the patronage from the state continues…
I agree that America is definitely building a case to move into Pakistan. If anyone remembers, this is exactly how they started moving into Afghanistan and Iraq. Its unfortunate really. I feel bad for Musharraf because on the one hand he needs to appease the terrorists so they stop attacking while on the other hand he needs to appease America. There’s really no winning for him. I have a question for everyone actually: where do you think these terrorists (with supposed links to al-qaeda) have suddenly sprung up from? As far as I remember we never had to deal with anything of this sort in the 90s. So why now? Is it possible that they comprise of Afghani refugees?
While All Things Pakistan has remained alive and online, it has been dormant since June 11, 2011 - when, on the blog's 5th anniversary, we decided that it was time to move on. We have been heartened by your messages and the fact that a steady traffic has continued to enjoy the archived content on ATP.
While the blog itself will remain dormant, we are now beginning to add occasional (but infrequent) new material by the original authors of the blog, mostly to archive what they may now publish elsewhere. We will also be updating older posts to make sure that new readers who stumble onto this site still find it useful.
We hope you will continue to find ATP a useful venue to reflect upon and express your Pakistaniat. - Editors
I agree with Umar. Mush need to give up his friend-enemy policy. Either make these terrosist friends or declare open war against them.
I think all these bombers came from OBL camps in waziristan. Mush need political will to destroy the enemy and I have no problem with NATO help.
