The following appeared in the daily Jang’s National News section few days ago. While I am glad that Nawab Saheb got immediate orthopedic help, it somehow also brought a smile to me. Among all the global problems that bother us, it is amusing (and refreshing) to note the types of news which still make up to the pages of National News section of Pakistan’s largest Urdu daily.
The news story reports about a guest who slips at an event and how one of the other guests – a lady doctor who is an orthopedist – was able to provide immediate medical help. But to enjoy or understand its content, you really have to read it in Urdu.
>>lakin is baat ki bhi tahqeqt honi chaye kay Nawab Saab >>phislay kasay?
Is kay liyay kamaty bana di gai hay :-)
Qausain, you made me smile at the sentence: ‘nawab saheb phislay kaise?”
Aamer: I couldn’t agree with you more. I also feel the same way. News these days only mean news of crime, disaster etc. And this is same for world-wide news media. I wonder what will such a constant broadcast of negativity from all media outlets will do to our collective human psyche.
Therefore once in a while, when I read something like above, it brings a refreshing smile. Our Urdu dailies, somehow produce gems like these quite regularly.
I also find the choice of words in the short news report above quite funny. Looks like the reporter got this ‘serious’ job right after graduating from reading ‘Hamdard naunehaal’ or ‘maahnaama taleem-o-tarbiat’.
Isn’t she the wife of Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah, founder of the renowned haddi torr and jorr clinic, AO Clinic.
LOL @ title … Rehana ka Karnama
lakin is baat ki bhi tahqeqt honi chaye kay Nawab Saab phislay kasay?
This is what news is.
Rather than the shooting, killing, violent kind ones we hear all over the world.
