When Shoaib Akhtar bowled Jamie Dalrymple today, he grabbed his 200th wicket in One Day Internationals.
Shoaib is Pakistan’s 5th and World’s 25th bowler to reach this milestone.
Following is the number of matches, Shoaib took to reach major milestones in his bowling career:
- 50th wicket in 29th match
- 100th wicket in 60th match
- 150th wicket in 91st match, and
- 200th wicket in 130th match

Bilal you are right. I myself don’t feel attached to Shoaib as much as I used to feel proud when Wasim Akram used to take wickets. Wasim as a bowler was a class different than anybody else.
Owais, It is a bit sad that despite all his laurels (and the fact that he is a good cricketer), I don’t find many people who feel very attached to Shoaib Akhtar. He doesn’t seem to have the following that the likes of Sarfraz Nawaz, Imran Khan, Abdul Qadir and Wasim Akram or Waqar Younis used to have. Somehow his ‘bad boy’ image hasn’t played off well in this decade. Am I wrong?
It’s great to know that ‘Rawalpindi Express’ is now Pakistan’s 5th bowler to achieve this. Here’s to good cricket!
