Owais Mughal
Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has recently released the university rankings of Pakistan. The rankings are generating so much interest that I am receiving four to five emails daily with people forwarding me the same link to HEC’s ranking web page. (Scroll down to see rankings and details).
I am kind of disappointed with my alma-mater, NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, ranked at number 10 out of the 13 Engineering Universities of Pakistan. The photo to the right-below shows few views of NED University.
I genuinely and of course with a little bias think that NED university should have been ranked among the top 3. When I make such claim; I do it on the basis of sheer engineering talent I’ve personally seen at NED. But rankings do not take into account the student talent. They look at finances, faculty, number of students etc. My university mates as well as the university officials have already started the discussion on how to improve the rankings next year. This discussion is going on at many NED online alumni groups. I am sure similar discussions are going on within other university alumni too. This I think, is a positive sign of publishing a list like this as it does create competition.

Hey, answering to Aamir’s comment about Bahria University, Iam currently studying there and doing my BBA, and He is right about the laptops and net connectivity which has been provided for the students there, just recently they’ve brought the wireless internet and provided students with laptops on easy installments basis.
Iam not quite sure though about where this institude is ranked in Pakistan, but in karachi it is a common perception that is it next best to IBA and CBM ( College of Business Management ) and with the facilities provided for the students there and the quality of education, it is likely that it will surpass CBM shortly in terms of ranking.
Moreover, I personally know a few people who have graduated from BU and are hired by top organizations with a starting salary of upto Rs. 30,000. And about the connection between the Engineering depts. of Bahria and NUST, im not quite sure if the faculty is linked with eachother in any way.
NUST was included as 2nd rank among the top engineering univeristies? Anyone bother to know why is that? The answer is simple: if you try to dig inside, you will be surprise to know that amount of funding given to NUST, every year, is greater than the combined budget of all other engineering university. The other engieering university were left in cold, and are struggling to meet even their day to day expenditure. Of course universities need funding to upgarde it labs., trained professors, etc.
If give 1/10 of the resources to NED, I am pretty confident that NED will easily surpass NUST.
Owais Mughal thank you for your answer ,but there is a problum ,I am asking about Bharia university of management science KARACHI(In short i am talking about its MBA AND BBA Section).
NUST is enginearing university ,it can be passible that Bharia dept of engeniaring may be conected with NUST university enginearing dept but where dose BHARIA university KARACHI near stadium road commerce dept stand in the list of HEC? and what do you people think about this uni. I learned from this uni that this is the frist unversity which provide cutting edge tecnology to student like of laptops and net conectivity with in the boundry of its uni and it is wireless and i heard many a students starting off with good salary of 2500 in good orginization what do you people say about this ?.
