Adil Najam

Sometimes you put up a picture just because its a nice picture and it makes you feel good. This is one of those times.

This picture is from ‘Dandia Nite 2006’, organized this Sunday by the Hindu community in Karachi as part of the Diwali celebrations (from Dawn, 30 October, 2006).  Dandia or Dandiya is a traditional dance often performed at Hindu festivals and on religiously significant occasions.

Earlier post here. Subsequent post on Diwali Celebrations at the Pakistan Muslim League headquarters in Islamabad, here.

    @Kunal

    Pakistanis would also like to see their Muslim
    bretherens in India to enjoy the same harmony,
    we should respect each other’s contributions towards
    the sub-conti as good and intelligent neighours as
    both Muslim and Hindu civilisations are found in the
    anals of history side by side, without arrogance, and
    useless bickerings.

    @Sanjai Singh

    Please look after the millions of Indian muslims
    who should have all the rights assured in your
    Republic.

    I would like to know if any can give me more details of Hindu civilisation in Pakistan and especially Karachi. THis is a positive picture of a fair Islamic State of Pakistan and it takes Islamic civilisation of Pakistan to its original days of per-independence culture when Hindus and Muslims lived together with religious unity and harmony.
    if any one can send me photos of karachi, pakistani culture,
    hindu festivals in pakistan on my given mail address.
    i would like to come to pakistan and see how it was before partition. specially i want to see lahore and karachi.

    Up till 64 Karachi had the Gujrati Hindu
    celeberating Dandia in a Gaoshalah adjacent
    to Ram Bagh. you have to train yourselves quite
    a lot because if you or she misses, then can have
    some blues on you face.

    I wish that Indian Govt. should also invite Muslim
    dignitries in PM or President Houses, and make it
    as a national event, and recognize the religious
    aspect of Eids, Mauloods, Shab-e-Qadr, shab-Mairaj
    and Ramadan, India has to re-establish the Urdu
    Language on public sign boards, which was
    banished in 60 by Nehru, Kashmir should be freed
    Hyderabad’s admins should be givenback to muslims
    Junagarh and manawader the same.

    You clap with two hands.!
