The headline screams out that more than 40 people are dead after a heartless and soulless suicide attack on a mosque in Rawalpindi. The story under it tells us that more than half of those butchered are children.

Numb. Enraged. Without words. One stares into space.

How many such headlines have we seen? How many more are we destined to see?

Carnage. Bloodshed. Callousness. Hatred.

These are not things that anyone with a modicum of humanity can become used to. Yet, the world passes us by. Its not even news for the rest of the world. They are too busy worrying about “their” Taliban, to care about what “our” Taliban are doing. In the crazy world that we have manufactured, not every death is created equal. And certainly not every life.

Once again, Pakistanis die. Once again, Pakistanis cry. Alone.

Once again, Pakistanis stare into the darkness of nothingness, looking for answers. There are few words of sympathy from those who claim to be our friends. There are only sneers and jeers from those who are our enemies.

Why, one asks, why? Why do they hate us so?

In this video interview one would-be suicide bomber speaks up. It is harrowing. Listen, if you will, to the voice of hatred. Listen, if you can, to what Pakistan’s enemy sounds like.

    when are we going to learn not to trust what the americans say. obama is playing to all sides now, when the time comes, Imperceptibly, his tune will change. he has done that about iraq, about guantnamo bay and even domestic policies. success in iraq is an illusion, ask people who manage to still live there.

    once they go in they stay. there are close to 800 declared bases in more than 130 countries. why would they be building 800 billion dollar embassy and keep 1000 marines in Pakistan. covertly they are already there (go see in tarbela) and plan to stay in the area for a long time to come.

    @Meengla,

    What exactly the liberal pakistanis want from India.
    Liberal Pakistanis that is the biggest oxymoron I have ever
    heard of. Just because you are western educated does not
    make you Liberal. In fact if you take a brain test, you
    will see that yours is conservative brain.
    Breathing Space. You can have all the breathing space.
    Do what ever you want. We don’t want anything to do with you.
    Democracy and Liberalism were happy accident of
    Great depression when Capitalism nearly collapsed.
    What exactly the World is going to invest in Pakistan for.
    What is the profit. Just a threat that Pakistan won’t A-bomb India.
    Did India prevent you from having a eduction system.
    Did India prevent you from having a birth control.
    You mind your own business, we will mind our own business.
    Enjoy the hell that you have created by living in hatred of others.
    That is the very nature of Islam so much for liberal.

    @Calculating_Misfit,
    To be fair to @Amir_Ali, he never supports these fundos in this blogspace–at least that’s what I gather so far. He and I do disagree on the present democratic setup’s continuation. I want the PPP-led govt. to complete its term or at least be kicked out through constitutional means. I am not sure about @Amir_Ali. But I digress!
    You need to read Cyril Almeida’s latest column (Two Generals of Obama) in Dawn.com to understand how we ‘liberal’ Pakistanis view Obama’s surge. We WANT General McChrystal (spp?) to succeed at the expense of ‘Gen’ Rahm Emmanuel who is likely to cut and run.
    As for your point about ‘political obfuscation’, you may be correct. And yet there is unmistakeable streak of neo-isolationism in America which cannot be ignored. Americans are ready to ‘cut n run’ after declaring a moral victory–much to the disappointment of the myriad right-wing conspiracy nut jobs of Pakistan (led by Hamid Gul, Zaid Hamid, Imran Khan…)
