Darwaish

I was watching the dramatic developments regarding Chief Justice of Pakistan’s case on GEO news today and wondering how much more we have to see after seeing police misbehaving with Chief Justice and his family.

Little did I know what was in store for me. During Kamran Khan’s show, Ansaar Abassi - investigative editor of The News, Islamabad - brought viewers attention to a shocking incident which happened during a live Voice of America ( VOA ) radio show interview (Round Table) yesterday (Listen by clicking audio symbol below)

Not surprisingly, it involves our Law Minister, Mr. Wasi Zafar. We have often read various reports about public displays of misbehaviors by Federal Minister for Law Wasi Zafar. But this is quite unbelievable.

Listen to the abusive language after the 34th minutes in particular. But also listen to the tone of the discussion of the entire interview in general. This, then, is our Federal Law Minister in action. Its worth hearing.

The Federal Minister said all this in response to a story by the investigative editor The News in which he wrote about the Law Minister’s “long arm of law.” Apparently he doesn’t know the difference between long arm and giving “a big hand.”

Listen to the clip and judge for yourself. I am just speechless!

ADDED 14 March: Here is the video clip of the report on this incident on GEO.

(Report on this in The News).

I had always wondered how change will come. How a system of absolute power will be toppled. Now I know.

    REQUEST TO READERS

We very much welcome readers posting links to related news and other stories but woudl like to make the following points.

    1. Any comment with two or more URLs is automatically placed into moderation and will be made live when ATP Administrators are live next. In such clases, please DO NOT resumbit the same message again and again or under multiple posts. It will NOT help and will only add to our work and bandwidth.
    2. Partly because of previous point and because literally hundreds of links to BBC stories have been posted here, the system now considers ALL comments with any BBC link to be spam and has been sending all those comments into spam (not moderation). In another case a reader has been totally blocked by the system (NOT BY US) because they had been sending too many messages with links (please understand how the system works; it assumes that this is spam behavior and considers these to be spam attacks even if they are not). Unfortunately, these are things that are done automatically and then become headaches for us to try to undo (which, as of yet, we do not know how to do).
    3. Please be courteous to other readers. If you are putting in a link, please mention what it is about and possibly a synopsis of that news, so that people can make up their mind of where they are going and whether they should go there. We realize that it is very easy to cut and past URLs, but courtesy demands that you tell others where you are sending them and why.
    4. Finally, specially on this post but generally everywhere, if you are so angry and emotional that you feel like abusing someone and utter obscenities and inappropriate language, then please do it elsewhere. ATP considers all people who take refuge in inappropriate language and behavior - Wasi Zafar as well as those who wish to abuse him - to be of similar ilk. We do not wish to associate with either.

(P.S. over the last week we have had to ‘clean and remove’ over 100 messages. Most because they were duplicates and many many - especially on this post - because of inappropriate language. This is not not a good use of our time or your energies.)

May be Wasi Zafar has earned Musharraf’s favours due to Wasi’s ability to administer ‘Jald aur Sasta Insaf’ anywhere anytime.

Someone just told me that the name of Wasi Zafar’s brother is General Zaki Zafar. Not sure where he is posted etc though. Any more information on him?

[...] It was Kamran Khan’s Show in which Mr Wasi Zafar’s misbehavior on VOA was reported (video of that program here). He was also the host of Geo’s live transmission which showed and commented on the misbehavior with Chief Justice of Pakistan and his family last Monday. I guess Kamran Khan has finally paid the price of speaking the truth and his efforts to present facts to the people of Pakistan. [...]

Inqilaab kay beej boay ja chukay, all deeds, words and roads are leading to it. Its inevitability cannot be denied. When everything in a country becomes a joke inqilaab is bound to come. Kab hoga yeh nahi keh saktay, lekin hoga zaroor!
