The question is in the headline. The answer may be in google, but can anyone guess without the help of google? And if you can, do tell us ‘why’ you know where this is?:-)

Where is this, and what?

I believe its in Liberia. Searched Bopolu on google. I also gather from news that Pakistani peace keeping mission is stationed in Liberia and the sign post could be the handiwork of our brethren in uniform :-)

My guess is that this tree is beside/in the area of the peacekeeping Pakistani force in Liberia. This guess is based on the information given by MQ and the definition of NM as Nanometer given by Ayesha. I will not google!

The photo seems to be taken from Flickr.

The picture was most likely taken by a Peacekeeper serving in UNMIL, where Pakistan has a large contingent based in Tubmanburg (about 54 km from Bopulu).

Its very common to feel homesick while on Mission and the sign was probably placed to indicate home in relation to where Peacekeeping staff find themselves. Other signs are also on the tree indicating other distant places.

There was a suggestion it was photo-shopped, but nothing in the picture indicates it was. Liberia is indeed a tropical country with very dense forests referred to as “the bush” and nothing in the picture seems out of place. It is most likely taken from an observation post on a hill (communications tower in distance indicates altitude).

Thanks for the pic, I’m curious, where did you get a hold of it? You must know someone from Pakistan who has served in Liberia, are they civilian or military?

Are we sure they MEANT Pakistan. It could be a very bad typo.

Additionally the tree and the landscape dont seem to be part of the same picture. Seems like someone is using Adobe.

If its in Liberia, this could be a tree trunk near the Pakistan peacekeeping base camp. I bet NM is for nano-meters..so then I imagine you would find the Pakistani camp close by and Bopolu further off..

Google gave me no clue; but I did found out NM stands for Nano Meter or who knows, it could be Never Mind.
