While we have discussed Declaration of Emergency, Chronology of a Meltdown, mis-treatment of Imran Khan in recent past, one topic that got missed is what’s Benazir Bhutto up to these days? We would like to hear from our readers. Today, on my drive back from office, I was listening to Imran Khan’s interview on National Public Radio (NPR). On a question of joining forces with Benazir, Imran Khan replied:
“We would love to join Benazir, except we don’t know whose side she is on today….There is a big mistrust of each other among opposition parties these days”.
I agree. What do you think? Above photos are in no way ATP’s endorsement to Benazir. They simply reflect a glimpse of our society. In addition to that, I personally enjoyed reading the slogan: “faisla zameer da….”

You can visit ATP on your Mobile Phone. Here's how!

JMA and Anwar proved me [partially] right!
As we all know…Benazir is up to no good again as she has done it in the past but the question is which really blows my mind that people of Pakistan are so blind that they cannot remember what she and her hubby did to Pakistan when she was in power. They raped and looted Pakistan and did no good for Pakistan then and will do no good now…so lets kick her out of Pakistan…she should be ashamed to call her Pakistani…
Pakistanis should be preparing for a new era of hardship and uncertainty. There are a number of power brokers pimping for Mush and BB. The eventual goal is an controllable chaos leading to breakup or loss of “crown jewels”.
Mush has underestimated the resolve of the white man. Like Saddam Hussain he too cannot distinguish between entrapment and appeasement. Entire country is therefore likely to suffer.
Even if Imran comes to power, without Kiyani on his back he will be powerless.
BB will only add to the misery.
Musharraf is good for Pakistan and so is BB, at least that is what the respective supporters would want us to believe, with the emphasis on how dangerous the other would be for the survival of Pakistan!!
Despite that, both seem to have been involved in a round of deals: with U.S. being the second hand car dealer. Both have things to hide and both are becoming a liability for each other. That tells the sorry state of affairs , (no, not of the leadership which has always been self evident) but of the respective followers of the above two groups.
After all what has been happening for the last 8 months and culminating in the fiasco of 11/307 and all the interviews thereafter, isn’t it time to go for ‘the new deal’.
The focus of debate should now be the soon to come ‘after musharraf era’ with a new leadership emerging from the Judiciary, Civil Society, Media and joining force with the relatively clean existing political players.
Any suggestions.
Evidently, your post and its main question is shamelessly biased. As if you guys don’t know what Benazir is upto? The whole world knows other than the readers here OR was the purpose to elicit damning comments on her?
She is at the centerstage of Pakistani politics and her workers have been struggling and facing arrests while the so called APDM leaders either silent or conveniently under house arrest.
The only exception is Imran Khan who is making the right democratic noises and has yet to learn who are his allies in democratic struggle after the betrayal of his closes allies at the PU campus.
However, the bias of this website is also clear from the fact that it has tried very hard to sell and promote Imran Khan and his (lack of) politics. There was much wailing here when he was arrested; and earlier posts also heralded the arrival of a new saviour!
Indeed, could a website skewed in favour of expat ( with quite a few depoliticised) Pakistanis who were praising Musharraf and Shaukat Aziz not long ago, say much else?
To the comments on BB and her poltics above: the politics of PPP, Bhutto and BB is not relevant for the affluent (and expecially expat) Pakistanis. It is relevant for the millions of poor and dispossessed who still think that the PPP talks about their rights and welfare and not the elite concerns.
The urban elites, such as the ones commenting here are hellbent on converting Imran Khan into some sort of a saviour while forgetting that he had only one seat in the last election and that too a favour or at best a fluke.
Please do not concern yourselves with what BB is upto as it will never come up to your standards which obviously are quite different for her.
Judging by the start of the rant here, I can predict what will follow: corruption (as if everyone else in Pak is clean), compromise (as if other politicians have never made any bargains), power seeking (as if politics was about anything else), favours by the govenrment (as if her husband did not suffer in jail for EIGHT years), and cases (as if no one else has been vicitimized incluing the Lord Chief Justice).
Spare her please and vote for Imran Khan instead of using indecent language. (If you cannot vote, please donate to PTI party funds).
However, the former might mean actually roughing it out in the “insecure” and “where nothing works” Pakistan!
And this one takes the cake:
“I can’t help myself but every time I see how US elections build up in 4 years, I start comparing it with our farce”
As if Bush’s victory was not a farce played out in the face of the world - from poll rigging, dysfunctional vote counting, a brother fixing the election in Florida and a Republican Supreme Court complying with the call of ideology!!
Give us a break brother!
