Adil Najam

First, a request: Some of you may have seen this picture recently; if you have, please DO NOT ANSWER just yet. Wait just a little while. Let’s see if those who have not seen the original picture can guess this one. Please, and thank you! Now, a confession: Had I not seen the original picture I would never have been able to guess this. And there are plenty of reasons why I should.

Next, the question: This is a list of eight people who have held a certain high office. What office is that? Where is this list (plaque) displayed?

Finally, an important hint: This is a complete list. The first person on this list is the very first person ever to have held this office?

Again, before you respond. Please do consider our request above.

By the way, what’s striking in this list is just how many years we have had Military Presidents!

More than half of the period in the list (24 out of 40) were military presidents!

Everyone on the list was president, but the hint says that it is a “complete” list. Which means that it cannot be Presidents, since Sikander Mirza was also President before Ayub. So, I guess it is of Presidents since Ayub… but a list of what?

Its a list of Presidents of Pakistan, some of them active figures, others like Rafiq Tarar mere vegetables while politicians were active.

Throughout it all, Pakistani public merely watched tamashas and did nothing else.

It outlines failed leadership. A list of failure to be precise!

It also affirms the resilience of the nation that endured it all and is continuing to endure this never ending misery.

Ayub was the only person who became FM - like many other military guys he too was self appointed to that position.

I can see the picture. It’s simple. Its a list of people who have been Presidents of Pakistan.
