Following yesterday’s murderous attack on Islamabad, Karachi has been rocked today by a series of blasts (seven reported till now).
According to The News:
One person was killed and 50 others injured in a series of 6 blasts that ripped through different areas of the busiest city of country on Monday. Two explosions occurred here in Banaras area. One of the blasts happened in a pile of garbage while the other one at a footpath near Banaras chowk, injuring 16 people. They were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, sources said. Enraged people took the streets and started pelting stones at moving vehicles.
The third explosion ripped through a mini truck in North Nazimabad area of Shahra-e-Noor Jehan near Sohail mosque. Five persons were injured, police sources said. However, Chhipa sources said 8 persons were taken to hospital. There are reports of the fourth blast in Hyderi area near a children’s school. Police mobiles have reached the blasts’s sites while ambulances are shifting the injured to local hospitals. The fifth blast occurred here in a motor cycle in Qasba colony area, killing one person.
A policeman was injured in the sixth blast in a bicycle in Manghopir. Two blasts also occurred in Pak colony in which 7 persons are reported injured. Police has not come up with any statement confirming the above blasts. Police and Rangers have been put on high alert in the city following the series of blasts.
How long will these murderous attacks on innocent Pakistanis continue? There can be no excuse for them. No justifications. No bahana-baazi. These terrorist acts are calculated moves to purposely spread fear and terror. These are clearly a war on Pakistan. A war on Pakistanis. A war on human decency.
Yesterday, after Islamabad’s blast we had written about a friend who survived the ghastly and cowardly attack on innocent people and had written this in an email (to Owais):
Today my belief in Allah’s power and what we call qismat(fate) was re-enforced. One of the things I learned while in overseas (i.e. to stop when a traffic police man tells me to stop) literally saved my life.I was on the other side of the road trying to make a uturn when the suicide bomber hit the policemen in Melody chowk today. If I had not stopped because a traffic policeman signaled me to stop and tell me that I cant make a U-turn, I would literally have been less the 5 feet from the suicide bomber. Luckily I stopped and being on the other side of the double road it placed a distance of around 20 feet between my car and the bomber. Somehow I was lucky enough to only have minor cuts and bruises while some really sharp pieces of metal landed inside my car and completely missed me.
It was one of the most un-nerving experience of my life since Ojhri Camp and also one of the saddest. I would really hope such events would stop in our country and as I fail to see what they achieve except for killing many innocent.
Our friend was extra lucky but for how long will Pakistanis continue to pickup ‘laashe’ of their unlucky loved ones?
This madness, brutality and violence must stop NOW !

Too late for that. Someone else already declared that war - it came from the other side.
How I miss BB in these circumstances. She was the only leader brave enough to stand up to it, was competent enough to steer the opinion of the nation and was popular enough to actually do it. Sending mangoes and running to Dubai does not cut it. Appeasing everybody does not cut it. Yousaf raza can not cut it. Nawaz Sharif is not interested. Leadership is about leading not just following the opinion of the people who are already in great despair. It was only her who could steer a country in these circumstances. What a big loss we had and what a strategically chosen target the terrorists had chosen in killing her.
Well, your friend was lucky to go away alive with his “re-enforced” belief in Allah, I am not sure the families of the 15 dead will be deducing a similar message. This particular blast took away the life of a policeman with years of experience under his belt – the gentleman I knew because he happened to a friend of my father for good 20 odd years — was a normal family man who left behind a wife and children. He was no less believer; his surviving children may not be.
If a logical person is to draw a lesson from the never-ending suicide-bombings inflicted on the innocent in the name of Islam and love for Allah, it wont be kind to the oft-parroted message that “Islam is the religion of peace.” I, for one, move away from the belief in religion, any religion but specifically Islam, with the every new bombing taking place in Pakistan by the most devout. My belief that “qiamat” is no more than an elaborate and much-hyped superstition is re-enforced by every new blast conducted by the religious supremacist. Every new incident strengthens my belief that an Allah, who can be so cruel to give a freehand to one of his ‘creature’ to kill his other ‘creatures” in His name, is a myth at best and an excuse for causing mayhem at best. Every new bomb convinces me that any religion which thrives on overpowering human conscience by demanding unquestioning submission by its believer is anti-human.

Its all our fault. We should hand over our country to Talibans and jump into the sea, that is the only way to stop this.
Pakistanis are facing growing dangers to their political, economic and physical security. There is almost a total leadership vacuum in addressing the growing dangers and reassuring the people. The question is: How long can the current situation last? What options are there for Pakistan, in case the current political leadership fails?
Will there be fresh elections? If so, can Pakistanis expect a more competent leadership to emerge? Or will there be the return of the military rule as a lesser evil? Does the military even want to enter this mess? Is Pakistan in danger of collapsing and becoming a failed state like Afghanistan or Somalia or Iraq. These are troubling questions, particularly because Pakistan possesses a nuclear arsenal. I hope the current leadership is thinking about these questions. I hope they are capable of providing the leadership necessary under the most difficult circumstances Pakistan finds itself in today. The stakes are much higher now than they have ever been for Pakistanis.
Another sad day when innocent people have lost their live in another suicide attack.
Its a shame for us that we are yet to find (or decide?) that who is our realy enemy; some say its USA, some believe its Talibans, some think its Al-Qaeda; some even blame Army for all this; some hates Musharaf for this. Its shame that our so-called patriotic leaders do not want to sit together even when the country is in deep crisis.

These killers and terrorists who are the enemies of Pakistan keep doing these murders in their attempt to damage our country. The government much take maximum measures to root out these killers.
