More than the overflowing garbage bin in the foreground it is the architectural monstrosity in the background that bothers me. Designed in poor taste, built of low quality grey marble, reflecting neither Mughal nor modern architecture, the minar stands in stark contrast against the exquisitely designed minars and domes of Badshahi mosque (not seen in the picture) built over 200 years ago. It is a shame that we haven’t been able to build a truly beautiful public monument or building in all these years.
The fact that trash is in the container and not on the walkways speaks good of the sweerers(khakrob). The truck to pick up the trash just has not arrived yet. Or may be the Jamadar is busy getting streets cleaned in the MNA’s neighborhood inpreperation of his daughtore’s wedding. You see there could be number of explainations for this pile of trash at the famous corner of Ravi Road, Lahore.
Sadly but this picture captures the true essence of Pakistan, a brilliant vision, yet our people & politicians refuse to embrace it and create hurdles along the path to the dream
While All Things Pakistan has remained alive and online, it has been dormant since June 11, 2011 - when, on the blog's 5th anniversary, we decided that it was time to move on. We have been heartened by your messages and the fact that a steady traffic has continued to enjoy the archived content on ATP.
While the blog itself will remain dormant, we are now beginning to add occasional (but infrequent) new material by the original authors of the blog, mostly to archive what they may now publish elsewhere. We will also be updating older posts to make sure that new readers who stumble onto this site still find it useful.
We hope you will continue to find ATP a useful venue to reflect upon and express your Pakistaniat. - Editors

The Lahore mayor and municipal corporation should be ashamed on this… who can one complain to?
