ADDENDUM, March 18, 2007: Inzamam announces retirement from ODIs
March 17 and March 18, 2007 proved to be tumultous for Pakistani cricket. At first Pakistan lost to Ireland in a World Cup match which saw Pakistan unqualified for the next round. Next the coach of Pakistan cricket team since 2004, Bob Wolmer had a sad demise in his hotel room and then Inzamam-ul-Haq announced his retirement from the ODIs. The detailed news of Inzamam’s retirement is quoted by Adil Najam below in the comments section. As far as topic of the above post is concerned, it looks like Inzamam’s career will stop after playing 378 ODIs in total.

Bilal, the reason for current players having ‘MOST’ runs and appearences is because cricket calenders are much more busy now as compared to say when Javed Miandad was playing. Pakistan has now played more ODIs than any other country in the world (639 as of 9/6/06). Pakistan has been playing 35-38 ODIs every year for the past decade and that shows up in individual statistics too.
Inzimam is not only a great cricker, but also a fine human being. I think he is the most liked Pakistani criketer in India.
Inzi the great. He is a master batsman but he has to give 100% out put to lead pakistan to the victory stand in Worldcup 2007 in West indies. He is a very talented & he is match winning Batsman. He has given so much to Pakistani team & i wish him that his career ends with pride & honour.( Aameen)
Lage Raho inzy Mamu:)
Inzimam, in my opinion, deserves a lot more praise as a Captain than the rap he gets for his chronic run-outs and/or poor fielding. As Adil has updated, after a very long time, we saw a thrilling match. Inzimam’s last shot, the winning shot, was such a breath-taking drive. I really respect Inzimam. There is something big brotherly about him. The gentle giant as someone called him during the current series.
