This notice board is from Food Street, Lahore. It reads:
“Entering the ‘Food Street’ wearing shorts is strictly prohibited: Food Street Administration”
Among other things on this notice board, I enjoyed reading the word sakht (strictly). As if the word forbidden didn’t sound serious enough, the administration had to add a prefix strictly forbidden to make sure people undrestand that administration means business here.

Shorts are indecent. However, glaring at women is decent? Many woman wear hijab in Pakistan only to avoid the unseemly visual onslaught and unwelcome stares. Perhaps there should be a sign for men to follow sunna and lower their gaze.
”
Viqar, which club was it that refused to serve you because you were wearing Kurta Pajama ?
”
I do not remember the name. It is one of the biggest in
(or near) phase 8. I can try to find out the name if you
like.
BTW, the refusal was not due to kurta pajama. It was
because of the sandals.
This ‘behas bara-i-behas’ was not going anywhere so we have decided to allow only 3 comments per person here. The point is if you cannot convey your point across in 3 comments then you never will.
If wearing shorts is “ungentlemanly
We as Pakistanis can not get further than what to wear and what not to wear and such “important” issues. Every right or wrong deed is to be justified through religion. It’s inapprehensible that so much time and resources are being dedicated to such a debate, which in the long run would affect no one’s mentality or life. When in Rome, do as the Romans do, when in Pakistan, behave in such a way that most of the Pakistanis could digest it. Be it Defence or Korangi!
