The cowardly suicide attack on the Danish Embassy in Islamabad which has led at least eight people dead is not just an attack on a foreign embassy in Pakistan, it is an attack on Pakistan.
There is and there can be no excuse for this dastardly action, and to make excuses is to become part of the apparatus of validating the terror itself. There are those who will make misplaced claims about this being an act of ghairat (honor). Let us be very clear, this is a bay-ghairat (dishonorable) act, no matter what the concocted excuse or justification might be.
The Associated Press pictures above (and below) tell the story of hate and destruction; here are the details, from The News:
The death toll in a huge blast near Danish embassy in F-6 II area in the Red Zone of the federal capital Islamabad on Monday has reached to eight, while seven wounded said to be in a critical condition. The car blast near the Denmark embassy damaged a boundary wall of the building, while nearby UNDP office premises were also damaged in the blast. According to sources 10 to 15 kilogram explosives were used in the blast, which also shattered the vehicles parked in the area. Huge clouds of smoke were seen over the area. The blast created four feet deep crater sources said. Police have cordoned off the area to collect evidence about the incident. Relief operations were underway and the wounded being transferred to hospitals.
While leaders in Pakistan as well as Denmark have condemned the dastardly act, we the people of Pakistan also need to condemn and be outraged at this. These acts of venom and hate are being done in our name. And no matter what the cause we need to stand up and say that this cannot, must not, be allowed to happen in our name.
This is just the latest in a string of hate blasts across Pakistan, including in Islamabad. We at ATP have been worried and have been warning against this culture of violence that has been festering in Pakistan. ATP commentator Deeda-i-Beena has provided some thoughtful ideas of steps that can be taken to begin addressing this cancer. It is time we think of them seriously.
@ Ahsan
I am sorry this makes NO SENSE at all! This is the type fo argument that supports terrorism and that has to be stamped out.
1. so you are saying that because the Prime Minister and President did not condemn the cartoons therefore it is Ok for these killers to murder innocent Pakistanis? Shame on you?
2. And by the way, what have any cartoons got to do with murdering Paksitanis? This murder is teh agenda of the anti-Pakistan mullahs who never wanted Pakistan in teh first place and are now destroying it this way.
3. The stupidest argument you make is that somehow YOU have attained “respect” by killing other Pakistanis. Ploesae explain to me how you are now more respected by becoming a murderer of your own people!
4. Not only are your arguments without merit, you also ad lies to them. You write: “They can come and kill our children in own backyard and get away.” Please explain to me when any Danish person came and killed your children in your backyard. I am eager to know, and if they did my condonelces at the death of your child.
5. Do you think we are really stupid. This was teh embassy of DENMARK, the people you killed were PAKISTANIS, and your grievance is supposedly with the White House and the Pentagon. Please get a lesson in geography. American is a different country on a different continent.
6. Please don’t insult me by saying that you were “left with no option” but to kill Pakistanis. You wanted to kill them and you enjoy doing that because your mission is to bring Pakistan down.
Wah bhai wah. You write in support of people killing Pakistanis and then you have the gall to say “Don
Condemn this act. Ok, fine. We all condemn it. What difference does it make? Nothing but we are ready to do it willingly. But where are these condemnations when Danish cartoonist sketched those devious cartoons. Did Prime Minister , President, our political leaders condemned it? No and if yes then not loud enough to at least hear it all round the world. Where to go in this land of injustice? They have their courts, they have their armies and they have their media to say and print things right or wrong. Where to go? Do we have any platform? What we want? Simple respect of all religions. Mutual respect. Is it too difficult to do?
They can come and kill our children in own backyard and get away with it by saying that they killed terrorists. They engage idiots in blasphemy of our religion and get away with it. So what should we do? To condemn and just sit back. You people publish this big post on your blog against terrorism . Do you publish anything when Danish evil published those damn cartoons? Bravo Adil bhai, bravo Owais bhai, bravo. We are also riding the same bandwagon.
Whatever West do, it has to be right. Whatever helpless, nowhere-to-go bearded youngster do, it has to be wrong. Come on. Come clean on it. Go and tell all those mischievous people sitting in the hearts of Western media, in the offices of Pentagon and White House, in the palaces of Islamabad and Saudi Arabia that they need to mend their ways, otherwise things can go horribly wrong. Not because we believe in terror but you left us with no other options. You hijacked all our platforms. You are bent on cornering us. Please try and understand the root causes of this terrifying behavior. You cannot be black and white about the whole situation. We are forced into something like this. Don’t push us to the limits where

You are right that *just* “STANDING UP” wont solve teh problem. But NOT standing up will make it worse. Standing ad speaking up has to be the first step. After that everyone has to actually play a role to be vigilant and to act.
Dear Sir/Madam,
To denounce the killing incidents of innocent people in Islamabad or else where in Pakistan look sympathetic but are we really feel sorry for that killing if it is so then we must eliminate the route cause of suicide killing and other hatred, being a democratic muslin country and people, we must think in the light of teaching of our prophet (PBH) because killing for killing and bloodshed of innocent people, due to one pretext or other can never gives flowers in return peace cannot prevail in this circumstances we must adopt democratic ways and means to settle the differences with who so ever they may be. It might be possible that an events of Blasphemy in the Denmark, might have been exploited by the external element to demonstrate Pakistan, as an unsafe place for the world. Though Islam is a religion of peace and prosperity.
However the thought Investigation must be carried out to find out the culprit, within the country but at the same time we must keep our eyes open toward the foreign agency penetrated in our country, for this blast and this type of chaos which they normally organize to create chaos to force the government and institution to join them in their far reaching goal which could never be in the interest of Pakistan.?
