Owais Mughal

Following is the text of a leaflet that will be be dropped in Mehsud areas in coming days. The text is both in Urdu and Pashto. Urdu part is shown here.
Clicking on the text image to the left will take you to its source webpage where you can view both Urdu and Pashto versions.

This is a positive gesture in my view and may counter the propaganda which local people are subjected to by the enemies of Pakistan. One has to distinguish between good guys and bad guys here and try to get as many good guys on your side as possible. English translation of the message is given below:

My Message to the Proud Mehsud Tribes: I admit that all of our tribal areas including Mehsuds are faithful to Pakistan and they have always worked for the defense of Pakistan as volunteers.

The aim of current military operation is not to attack proud and patriotic Mehsuds but it is to save them from the clutches of ruthless terrorists who have destroyed peace of the whole region. Therefore the aim of this operation will be Uzbek terrorists, foreign terrorists and local terrorists.

Miltary’s aim is to let Mehsuds live in their area in peace. I am hopeful that Mehsud tribes will side with Pakistan military in this operation and will rise as one against these ruthless terrorists so that Pakistan’s green crescent flag will once again flutter in Mehsud lands with full glory. God Bless you. with best wishes. Gen Ashfaq Kayani. Long live Pakistan. Long Live Pak Military and Long Live Mehsud tribes.

  1. Some comments from the ATP Facebook Page:

    – “Well worded letter. Good job. PAKISTAN ZINDABAD. May the enemies of Pakistan perish.”
    – “inshAllah the enemies will Perish”
    – “Now lets just hope we can deal well with the IDPs from Waziristan. DI Khan seems to be full and ill equipped. Treating them well is crucial to retain and evoke the sense of patriotism for pakistan in these people. Terrorists or not, the army is going after their people. The govt and the entire nation needs to evoke a lot of sympathies and sense of ‘unity’ with the rest of the country in the tribal folks for the success of this operation in the long and short terms.”
    – “Good letter but as stated above the effective and timely treatment of the IDPs will be critical to ensuring tribal loyalty.”
    – “Pakistan Zindabad, Pakistan Paindabad !!!”
    – “Loong live Pakistan…!!!”
    – “Psy Ops”
    – “Pakistan is our life, and we want to safe our life, i love pakistan.”
    – “We must all stand against these Taliban and all Taliban supporters who are enemies of Pakistan.”
    – “Lets hope the army can blast these Taliban out of their holes and Pakistan forever.”
    – “We will inshallah root the god forsaken Taliban out of our Pakistan an into hell where they belong!”
    – “our army do something for our country…”
    – “jab tk honest nai hon gay sb tb tak kuch nai ho ga..”
    – “Armed forces are ALLAH’s blessing for us..”

Well, I don’t know much about Islam, agreed. But atleast I know some simple logic. Everyone says Pakistan is at war (I am hoping there are no two thoughts here). It is a fact that Talibans have attacked Pakistani forces. It is also a fact that a large stretch of Pakistan remains under Talibani influence, where the law and order sitution is not good (at least I hear so) . It is also a fact that Pakistani armed forces are fighting against these militants, which are not hundreds but a damn 10,000+ in number, armed to the hiltch, ready to kill (infact already on a killing spree), and ready to loot and destroy schools. Now if a country is at war with these destructive forces, it is but natural to gather support, and what Kayani has done is not only sensible but logical. Isn’t it?

What I really don’t understand are the “Laws of Allah” as preached by Ibrahim et al. Do laws of Allah preach people to kill, blow up innocent citizens, destroy schools and treat women like animals? And does law of Allah prohibit a country to stop the terrorists which are destroying Pakistan day by day.

What surprises me even more is that, Pakistan any day used to be more moderate than most Arabic counties. Infact most Pakistanis I have met here in US are quite humble, educated and surprisingly indistinguishable from Indians. Infact Indians and Pakistanis share apartments in our building. How funny that is when I think of it :)

Why is that Saudi Arabia which follows hardcore Wahabi Islam has no terrorist incidents, but almost every terrorist incident in world has some link with Pakistan? Is it that Saudi’s chop the hands of people who invoke Allah while doing their misdeeds, while in Pakistani you can afford to do every illogical insanity, plunder entire nation, brainwash people to blow themselves in the name of Allah.

Here is the list of richest people in Pakistan (count the politicians):

I have known Pakistanis to be pretty smart people. But what really perplexes me is why people don’t people realize a simple fact that it is not lack of Allah’s law but “bloody corruption” which is eating away Pakistan. US, Europe, Saudis, and almost everyone damn country is and has been playing with Pakistan and why should they not? Some show the path to green bucks and some show the path to Allah, and it is not surprising both have huge followings :)

When Friedman mentioned the lack of “people power” in his article I shared, he was damn correct.

    @Ibrahim

If culture, identity and ethnicity is relevant as you say….then that equals “Nationalism”, which is a necessity in this limited world with limited resources. Pretending that all Muslims in this world are one people is nonsense and has never been the case. Go to Middle East to see what the Arabs think of the brown-skinned folk from the subcontinent.

Additionally Allah(SWT) neither made Zardari, or you or the Taliban the enforcer of his religion. Keep your arrogance in check.

  4. Rizwan says:

“What fellow Muslims? ‘fellow Muslims’ dont go around and kill children and women of the same Religion.”

Your good intentions notwithstanding, I am appalled by such statements. Do you mean to say that it would have been alright if their victims had been children and women of a different religion?

  5. Pakistani First says:

It is amazing to me that Taliban supporters and supporters of the enemies of Pakistan are even now raising their heads. How dare you support the Taliban and the killers of Pakistanis.

I am a Pakistani first and before anything else and trying to sell murder in the name of religion is both an act of enemy of Pakistan and of Islam.

PAKISTAN ZINDABAD. TALIBAN AND ALL TALIBAN SUPPORTERS MURDABAD.
