This is the second part in 5-episode series on travel through Pakistan by national highway N5. Our idea is to skip big cities enroute as most people already know about them. We will try to introduce lesser known small cities and towns of Pakistan here. Today we will pick up our journey just north of Rohri, cross the provincial boundary of Sindh-Punjab and travel a total distance of 361 kilometers to reach the city of Bahawalpur.

Click on the map above to get a larger image of our route today. All the towns that are mentioned below are marked on the map as blue rectanlges.

After leaving Rohri we drive another 32 kilometers on N5 before we reach the city of Pano Akil.

We’ve had quite a few posts on food at ATP. For example, if you are looking for best Pakistani food outside Pakistan then you may want to consult here. If you want to know how to make omelette in Pakistani style then read this and if you are thinking of outsourcing ‘samosa’ and ‘paraatha’ production to China then our article here can be a resource.
Now when all is said and done; I still want to say that among all the goodies that God has created for the pleasure of mankind, one great thing is a Bihari Kabab. Those of you who have tasted it may agree that no other food can beat the great taste of a well-marinated and spicy Bihari kabab.

One fine evening in early 2006, I got this sudden urge where I craved for the Bihari kabab at 9:00 p.m. By 9:15 I found myself sitting in the car and driving towards a famous desi restaurant in Hayward, California. The restaurant closes at 10 p.m and I managed to reach there just in time. I ordered a plate of Bihari kabab. The owner who was a novice in customer service looked at me with such eyes as if saying couldn’t you have come earlier.

Gulf Dream CruiseAt ATP, we have written before about the Gulf Dream Cruise, which is now the talk of the town. Yesterday I had the opportunity to have dinner aboard the Dubai Dream Cruises and to check out what this cruise liner had to offer to its potential customers. (Click on images to enlarge them).

Before I begin, I would like to issue a disclaimer to make you aware of the frame of mind I was in while walking up the gangplank to enter the Gulf Dream Cruise vessel. I have previously taken a cruise to the Caribbean upon the Celebrity vessel managed by Carnival Cruise Liners. It was a superb experience with excellent food and amazing entertainment. I had that experience in mind when reviewing the facilities on aboard this cruiseliner.

It seems that many Pakistanis have been trying to relate this cruise ship by comparing it to the amazing footage they saw in the movie Titanic, which at one time, captured the heart of millions. Despite my positive experience in the Carribbean, and the splendor of what Titanic was, I will attempt to review Gulf Dream Cruise with neutrality, leaving my own critique to the end.
