For all of those, me included, who wondered what a 7-star hotel looks like; this is it.
To find out what it feels like, you will have to wait an indefinite amount of time until this surreal StarTrek-like structure actually comes about in Islamabad. Will it? And if it does will it really look like this!
This would have made a great photo-quiz had written about the hotel a few days ago, had Asma not already posted the URLs to these pictures as a comment on that post, and had these pictures not been flying around in all sorts of emails from Pakistan. Despite all of the above, I thought they would still make a great post; maybe some of the koolness will rub off on the site. And I am sure the builders could do with some more free publicity.
Plus, as regular readers know, I have a thing for pictures with tullas (cops) in them (see here, here and here). And this one - even though imaginary - has that traffic cop perched right in the foreground. By the way, don’t miss the helicopter hovering above (near the helipad) either!

I have also heard the same, that there is a dispute and financer has run away. But I say we should wait for confirmation of this because it just may be a big rumor only.
So, over the last week I have heard from 3-4 people that the financer for this has backed out and the project is going to be scrapped. It may just be a rumor but I have now heard it a few times. Does anyone know anything about this?
its realy fantastic i realy liked the design :!) salam to all paksitani ppl hi
Marvellous building, but I think there shouldn’t be many of these in main Isb so as not to ruin the atmosphere. If we need more sky scrappers then there should be a new “downtown” developed for this purpose.
i think its a amazing in first site i can,t think that this type of buildinds are here.its a very marvlous
I believe that sometime things do not look good in the picture but give great impression when you see them in real and vice versa. So lets wait before passing judgement on the look and feel of the hotel. The point in my view is not how it look although that is important but more importatnly the trend and belief of people investing big in pakistan. Imagine the economic potential of a country where foreign and local invester have started investing big even under a military dictator and law and order situation less then ideal. I could only image what the picture would like in pakistan if somehow pakistani can overcome these problems.
Hey is this a real picture of the hotel of just similar one from an other place. Anyway its great to know the trend of teh invester in pakistan. I really hope to see it completed asap even though I may only go there for a cup or tea.
Yes, Sameer, you are right some Pakistanis do have bad taste.
I assuem you mean the ones who say that actually like this silly monstrosity of a building :-)
