In an uncivilized turn of events, the chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan was manhandled at the Punjab University Campus today. He was later arrested by the police. A group of students kept him detained on the campus and later turned him over to the police. According to Dawn’s Report:
Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chairman Imran Khan was arrested from outside the Punjab University’s new campus on Wednesday after he had been manhandled and detained in the campus allegedly by activists of the Islami Jamiat Talaba. Imran Khan had gone to the university at the invitation of a joint action committee of students.
The visit had been approved by Qazi Hussain Ahmed, chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, to which the IJT is affiliated. On his arrival at the campus, the PTI chief was confronted reportedly by a group of IJT activists who kicked him around and punched him. They took him to a room in the Centre for High Energy Physics and detained him there for about 45 minutes.
This is an interesting (and sad) turn of events. Imran Khan’s party and the mother party of IJT are both partners in APDM. Imran and Qazi have been seen together in many media photo shoots for the past year or so. Will today’s action by IJT guys will cause long term bad-blood between the two parties? It is left to be seen.
We strongly believe that inspite of political differences, no person deserves physical bashing and humiliation as was met out to Imran. Political differences should never be taken to such extreme where people use force to get their point across. It is wrong. Shame on those who manhandled him. I was recently reading an article on political bashing in the Wall Street Journal. It had a punch line which just kept resonating with me. It read:
Our politics suffer when passions overcome reason and vitriol becomes virtue.

I am a business man, and i take intrest in politics, i think Imran khan is not a popular leader of the pakisan, he is a leader of smallest party, but he want to be a Hero, against all papular leader ship, he has any ability and no any agenda for the pakistani nation, let me now, why he was gon in punjab univerisity? there were only student protest against musharafm, but imran wont to be hero, why………….? Islami jamit talaba has no any blamished past, it is a single papular student orginization all over the pakistan, Nimaz, Jihad, Qurran and sunna also preached by this organization. but imran khan to way on complition of forginer agenda, i pray only the May allah bless our country.
I m a student of PU and we as a student of PU welcomes imran and condem IJT as we have the history of fighting against any unhuman activity and of fevering the right one .I had soft corner for IJT and PTI(Imran’s party) before this incident but after seeing what was happened with imran i have to chang my thinking for IJT. Our govt. have made pakistan an unhuman country for the past three to four year. We have no human rights niether we have justice nor we have freedom of press.We have no political freedom and we becames one of the most currupt nation in the world.Imran took a right step of mobilizing the students against our govt. which made our nation to live from hand to mouth.N ow,we welcomes leader like imran khan having passion, agression and having political principels.He should be our president as he can save our nation (He had shown it from the making of shukat khanm kainser hospital, a show of great management).May allah gave two of our great khan’s (imran and Dr. abdul qadeer) a long life.

Imran khan is very straight forward and daring Pakistani. It is unfortunate that he got such treatment.
In our society majority goes for their own/personal interests and crosses the limit.
When a daring son of Pakistan (Imran Khan) devotes himself heartedly despite of all the luxuries and comforts of life just for the sake of pakistan, he is treated so badly why?
Why we not support such true heroes to make them successful and on the whole for the freedom/victory of our country. ?
I am proud of his greatness and devotion for Pakistan.
I can only say that this is a fall of a hero. Looking at this particular picture I feel agonizingly sad and believe that when nation’s start treating their heroes in such a manner, the downfall and collapse of the system is not too far away.
I belong to a generation when Imran was our role-model, a remarkable character who led from the front and never gave up.
I perhaps have no words to express my frustration. It’s highly disappointing.
