Asma Mirza

I came across this captivating photograph printed in Dawn a couple of days back. Left me in awe for few seconds.

Even the crows know that they can quench their thirst turn by turn; which is probably in their best interest. Unlike their human friends.

Errr… I don’t want to make this amazing capture political but the term “turn by turn” reminds me of our very own Senator Asif Ali Zardari and Mian Nawaz Sharif. An ex-senator who is so heartly called one even these days by PTV; and an ex-PM who is trying hard to enter the privileged class of parliamentarians. Do you think they are back for any good or are they just quenching their thirst too, on our money, turn by turn?

As a commentor on Islamabad Metblog aptly mentioned, “And please remember no matter how much you launder, clean and wash a leopard; his spots will never change.

Don’t let your hopes go sky-high. Hydrate yourself enough.

‘coz in the end, “Sab Maaaya Hay

Actually, I don’t think crows are seen as majestic or beautiful in Pakistani culture either.

Someone said, Saow man saboon lagai kalai boon na hoosan bagai(what is saying that you may use tons of soap but black will remain black no matter what and will not turn white) These politicians are black and I dont understand why poor people go for them> Maybe because they have been trained by the pavlav’s dog. The moment they see these old kalai choors they start slivating.

    Fantastic picture!

It’s interesting how animals are seen differently in different cultures. For instance in the UK crows are sometimes seen as not very nice animals. Obviously we do not realise how clever they really are!

There is proverb in my mother tongue, which says that a young crow is smarter than his parents. The crows of olden days taught us to make graves and how to raise low level of water in a pot and now new breed of crows are teaching us doing work at our turn, which has become a rarity in our society.

    vultures

    :S

sorry, can’t think of any other word!!!

P.S. No, crows are sweet, they taught us how to drink water from the low-level water pot, and initially they taught us the art of making graves na :)

    It is a nice picture.

For some reason it reminds me of a story my grandmother used to tell of the crow who put pebbles in the pitcher to make the water rise so that he could drink the water.

Maybe crows are smarter than people after all ;-)
