Tamashbeen

Not the best rendition of Waris Shah’s Heer that I have ever heard. But one of the most captivating nonetheless!

The singer is one, Anita Lerche, from Denmark, who has found a niche market in singing Punjabi songs – mostly for Punjabi Indian audiences – in her Danish accent.

I suspect Punjabi Pakistani audiences will also find her entertaining for the same novelty value.

Nice find. And a good break from the serious stuff. Glad to hear this. But will hear it only once :-)

Janis Miller, an American woman, performed in Urdu and Punjabi at a lot of Pakistani functions. She was very good with the crowds. Here she is doing long gwacha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wychmNoEjYI&feature=related

The interesting thing about Miller was that her repertoire was almost entirely Pakistani, and not Bollywood. I dont know if she is still active

Why are you making kalian noo jealous? Wait for their wrath

Please dont get me wrong I like dark skin if there is good head on the shoulders.
But this is how the conversation went between the two Pakistani girls, when I took a chair next to them in a private party.

The girl who was wearing a green color contact lenses and had dyed blonde streaks claimed to have half Turkish in her said to another.

Aap bari pyari lag rahi hen
The another perky but little cocky said
Nahin Aap bari pyari lag rahi hen

    But the another again insisted

Nahin nahin Aap bari pyari lag rahin hen

Until I got up and changed my seat.

    Nice to hear this.
    Kind of funny, though.
I guess we sound the same to native speakers when we speak in English :-)

She does not sing well, but she does understand demographics and her market. Not a bad niche to have :-)

yes, she is amusing, but is this floozy more worthy of space on this blog and going gaga over than an inspiring young pakistani woman making a real difference in the lives of inhabitants of a ghetto of pakistan??
