Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has recently released the university rankings of Pakistan. The rankings are generating so much interest that I am receiving four to five emails daily with people forwarding me the same link to HEC’s ranking web page. (Scroll down to see rankings and details).
I am kind of disappointed with my alma-mater, NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, ranked at number 10 out of the 13 Engineering Universities of Pakistan. The photo to the right-below shows few views of NED University.
I genuinely and of course with a little bias think that NED university should have been ranked among the top 3. When I make such claim; I do it on the basis of sheer engineering talent I’ve personally seen at NED. But rankings do not take into account the student talent. They look at finances, faculty, number of students etc. My university mates as well as the university officials have already started the discussion on how to improve the rankings next year. This discussion is going on at many NED online alumni groups. I am sure similar discussions are going on within other university alumni too. This I think, is a positive sign of publishing a list like this as it does create competition.

can u plz tell me the rank of sir SYED UNIVERSITEY
What about the M.A jinnah university islamabad i think it also provides the quality education
aoa all pakis!
i think this is a perfect ranking except the number 1 uni in engineering. i think many of us dont know about that uni and it only specializes in masers. the only reson of its 1st position that i can figure out is that “faujiun ki uni hai”. and dats wat one of my friends in islamabad says. nobody even knows it there! let alone the whole of pakistan.
and about punjba group of colleges, i think they simply suck….sorry but this is the fact. they are no more than money making machines for amir mehmood and nothing else. no research, no campus, no distinctions…..why should they be even considered for such a high level ranking that involves the whole of pakistan? what message will one be giving to international community who reads this ranking and then actually finds out these shity “kothis turned colleges”?
btw i was myself a part of punjab group of colleges by studying in Resource Academia so don’t challenge my information.
AH
What do u think about K.E.Medical College Lahore. I hink it should be included in ranking as 1st
Dear Uzair and C. Prasan,
I hate to be a party pooper but there is actually a Preston University in the state of Alabama, USA. This university is infact affiliated with the parent in the US. Although I have no clue about the recognition of its degree. Some people say it is blacklisted in Pakistan. My advice to you is to be very cautious before you make any decision about going for higher education from this university.
