Lt. Col (R) Imtiaz Najam, father of Adil Najam, passed away in Pakistan on May 23rd. He was 75.
Inna lilah e wa inna ileh rajeoon.
Please pray for the ‘maghfarat’ of deceased soul and ‘sabr’ to his family. It is also a part of our Pakistaniat to join each other in our times of sorrow and provide support to each other.
I hope Adil Najam will not min my writing here like this and without my name, but I have been a family friends of the Najam’s for long and thought those who know Adil Najam should also hear of this.
I went to Col. Najam’s janaza yesterday which was attended by a large number of his friends as well as those of his children. Najam sahib and his family is very well loved by his friends and Najam sahib was a man with a kind heart, someone who never spoke ill of anyone, someone who always saw the positive side of things, someone who was ready to help anyone and everyone, someone who was always there for you no matter who you were. He was also someone who loved Pakistan deeply and he gave that quality to his children too. The only time I have ever seen Najam sahib angry was if someone said bad things about Pakistan. He fought in two wars for the country, he served time as a POW. He was a brave and good man and I was proud to know him. May his soul rest in peace.
At the janaza yesterday I saw the love of all his friends who had come from all over and I also saw the love of his children for their father. All the of the children, including Adil Najam, were heartbroken and would just break out in teams. At a number of points I saw Adil just break down and cry like a baby unable to control his tears. The other brothers were the same. It was painful to see the pain in all the children and as a father I think it was the best tribute to Najam Sahib. The way his children who were here in Pakistan took care of him in his last days was moving to see. I know Najam Sahib was very very proud of the achievements of all his children and would keep talking about them. I hope his children realize how proud he was of them.
In my life I have been touched by Col. Imtiaz Najam and admired the achievements of al his four sons. I wanted to say this somehow and am glad I have a place here to say this. I hope Adil will read this and know how people who know his father felt about his father.
