Following 2 photos are the scenes of 2 more cowardly attacks by the enemies of Pakistan in my Lahore and my Peshawar. Very sad and our prayers go to the innocents who got martyred. If anything, these cowardly acts are going to make our resolve stronger against the terrorists. Dawn coverage here and here.

Thankyou for the reply Musaafir. I really hope that more people in your country start listening to sane voices like you. I hope that some day the Pakistani public can accept Americans as allies against against these murderers. It makes me sick to think of my country being accused of these attacks, which is the only reason I asked such a potentially offensive question. Thankyou again for replying.

    @Psycosmo.

The perpetrators of these atrocities and the ones before these were carried out by people who are from among us. They look like us, live among us and they lead their regular lives like the rest of us and most of all call themselves Muslims. Whatever their motivation or reasoning, they consider themselves better Muslims and consider us worse than the infidel because we are not following their skewed interpretation of Islam. For us they have a stark message, “You are either with us or against us.”

This is a faceless enemy, as it cannot be distinguished from the rest of us. As Muslims, we are raised to believe that killing of one innocent human being is akin to killing the whole humanity. And hence have a very hard time accepting that another human being who calls himself Muslim can be capable of such crimes against humanity. We obviously then try to externalize and try to deflect the blame left and right.

As conspiracy theories go, we are desperately looking for someone to blame except ourselves. Blaming India is easy because of our long history of rivalry and close proximity. Our relationship with USA has always been based on quid pro quo and nothing else. Mutual suspicion has always been in this relationship. And also the close proximity of US in Afghanistan is also a factor in this suspicion. And you will find some nutty people in every country who think all global conspiracies are designed by the CIA spooks in dark rooms at Langley.

See my earlier comment on this article for some more.

As an American I just feel numb when I hear about things like this. I can’t imagine what it must be like to have 9/11 be an everyday event.

In reading coverage of the recent bombings in Pakistan, I have gotten the impression that there is a significant faction (at very least) that believes the the CIA/Mossad et cetra are the real perpetrators of these attacks. Since this site seems to have a pretty levelheaded bent I want to ask Pakistani’s here if they have any idea why these ideas are seemingly so popular.

Are the people who say these things trying to cover or the Taliban? Or are they simply unable to believe that fellow Pakistanis could do such things? Or do they think there really is evidence that the CIA/Mossad are the actual perpetrators of these bombings? Is it some sort of propaganda conspiracy or what?

Diyar ko kirchi kirchi kar diya
Apnoon ne bhi, ghairoon ne bhi

Aahani iqdaroon(values) ko mismar kar diya
Apnoon ne bhi, ghairoon ne bhi

Reet o rasm o rivayaat moqoof (suspend) hain
Aik khila (vacuum/empty vessel ) paida kar diya
Aapnoon neb hi, ghairoon neb hi

Aql o mantaq o kalam mauoof ( frozen) hain
Andhi taqleed (blind following) ko aaam kar diya

This is what situation in Pakistan does to normal person like myself.

Ye hai Bidat, ye hai haram
Sun sun kar pak gae hain aab humaray kaan
Jis ne kiya kufr, uska hoga kaam tamam
Array mairay baap, bus band kar ye raag-e-wetaag
Sabeeluna Sabeeluna al jihad al jihad
Array o gharatgar, karta hai kyoon kise ka ghar barbad
Gardanay katain ge, inqalab lain ge
Tumharay marney ke baad hum chain ke bansuri bajaeen ge
Hath katoonga, pathar mooroon ga aur kooray barsaoon ga
Aur mein tujhay pagal khanay dakhil kara aoon ga.

    Ye Musalman nahi dahareye hain
    Ye Insan nahi bahariya hain
