There was a time when PanAm was the biggest and most fascinating international airline in the world. That has changed quite some time back. And so, it seems, has Pakistan. The subject of this fascinating promotional documentary made by PanAm in the 1960s.

Given the Japanese narration, it seems that PanAm was trying to lure Japanese tourists to Pakistan. Right there, an interesting notion.

I do know that Karachi was a major stop in PanAm’s long-haul flights and I assume this is related to that. Although it does seem that the documentary is focusing on much more than just Karachi. So much in the video is so different from what now is. But so much is also so much the same.

I find the footage absolutely fascinating at so many different levels, even though I cannot understand the narration. Maybe a Japanese speaking reader can help us get a gist of what is being said?

Yes Saadia, I would like to let world know that pseudo intellectual Pakistanis turned to be more ignorant and illiterate than genuine illetrate we usually found in remote villages and their capability to comprehend things is far more lower than an average Pakistanis we see around

Adnan, you wrote, “… I promise I will promote you so much that you would beat Lady Gaga’s fan counter …”

    REALLY…You can do that????

Those intellectual paindus who sing praises of ‘Civilized West’ and Western society might like to educate themselves about something recently happened with a female Google employee in a conference.

Saadia, is this the society you worship for? is this kind of “prosperity” you are looking for?

of the box or our so called “excellent culture” and sad life style.

Pakistani Expats sound more like Paindus from some distant village who gets out of control after seeing lots of “Batian” of cities and they close their eyes from the problems exist in cities. I ask you to read the book “Fastfood nation” and AutoBio of Pres.Jimmy Carter and learn a bit about the society you worship like a paindu of a distant village. it would help you to educate yourself about things around you.

“left wing radical friend” appreciate and encourage you to have life of prosperity.

Thanks for showing your classical ignorance about political affairs. In Karachi these days, secular militant parties like MQM and ANP rule and even today they have been killing innocent civilians just because they don’t agree with each other point of view. The whole Karachi has been hijacked by Them NOT BY talibans!

As far as your version of prosperity is concerned, if wearing Chaddis and wearing nothing means prosperity to you then our ancient red indian friends and still many ppl live in jungles are more prosperous than you and me because they wear NOTHING hence more advanced and prosperous than us.

I have become fan of yours. Do you have a fan page on Facebook? I promise I will promote you so much that you would beat Lady Gaga’s fan counter

p.s: Don’t let anyone know your school of learning otherwise your teachers would feel embarrassment after knowing your ignorant and fictitious thought and get back to your work in some “1st world country” where they call you as “Paki” don’t give you all money just because you did not clean up dishes well.
