Adil Najam

Today is 12 Rabi-ul-Awal – and Eid Milad-un-Nabi – marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

I sit at the airport in New York awaiting my PIA flight to Lahore to be announced, knowing that the whole country will be decked up and glowing for the occasion. Cannot wait to be part of the festivities. On this, the birthday of the Rehmatulil Aalameen, I pray and wish for rehmat not only for the Prophet’s believers in Pakistan, but for all people in Aalameen. It seems to me that to personalize His (PBUH) rehmat as if it were only for the few who we think “got” the message right, is – it seems to me – to miss the entire message itself.

So, today, on this Eid Milad-un-Nabi, I pray in the name of the Rehmatulil Aalameen (PBUH) for rehmat for all aalameen, and for all people everywhere. May they – may we – be all blessed with peace.

To me part of the memories of Eid Milad-un-Nabi in Pakistan was always the amazingly powerful devotional poetry of the naat – and none better than from Muzaffar Warsi, who died recently. It is apt, then, to share one of his most famous naats on this auspicious day.

“I mean did Muhamma (PBUH) preach what v-day is all about or did he abolish such things???” (Naouzbillah)

Naan Mian you mistyped the name of the prophet and seek forgiveness for the error which is tantamount to blasphemy. But you should know, according to the mullah the punishment for blasphemy is death by lynching and it is the prophet alone who had the right to forgive any body as though his ‘rehmat’ ended with his death. Only the cruelty of ‘Deen-e-Islam’ remained to be executed by the self-styled hangmen of Islam, the mullah with his ‘deen-e-fassaad’.

The other day, I happened to see a talk show on blasphemy law on a TV channel. Speaking against the grant of forgiveness to the blasphemy accused on the analogy of the prophet having done that in a number of cases, a pro-BL mullah said that only the prophet had the right to do that which we , the Ummati, cannot do, i.e., to forgive any one guilty of blasphemy and this argument appeared to have clinched the discussion.

The main antic of the mullah in general is that they install themselves as scion or inheritor (وارث) of the prophet as their expediency demands and treat them as ‘ummati’ when it suites them otherwise. They, however, never let go their prerogative to lead the sectarian prayers assuming themselves to be the inheritors of the prophet instead of standing in line with the namazies in general and thus blatantly defying the quranic injunction which says, “Warkaoo maarraakiein (Jhuko jhukne waalon ke saath)”.

They are in fact self-styled ‘hangmen’ of Islam who do not believe in Islam of God who is ‘rehman and rahim’ and the prophet, who is ‘Rehmatulaalimin’ and the Blasphemy law is the main weapon by which they terrorize the people into submission. The BL, however , being a double edged sword, it does some time hit the mullah themselves. So beware and take care.

Indeed it is very well celebrated day in Muslim world. Muslims should also remember the teachings and the message of Islam that was spread by Prohpet Mohammad(PBUH). The message of Islam that is peace and love has somehow lost it’s meaning . I condem the brutal killings of Ahmadi Muslims in Indonesia. I’ts time that all muslims should stand up and be one and condem killings of any kind.

Very nice sentiments Something that all Muslims should think about.

    @Asim

While you continue to show your ignorance and telling about your madarassah where you got education. Your analogy of an employer and employee does not make sense. Infact it’s quite lame.

You get your salary for the work you are asked to for certain period of time. In layman’s lingo it’s called “Contract”. You don’t enjoy luxury before doing any work. Can you please tell me how do you believe that you would get salary after a month? Just due to piece of paper signed by you? Or you just “believe in his words?”. The way you have signed the contract with your Boss who pay you after “every Month”(a tenure). Similarly every Human(Read Human not a “Muslim”) has signed the contract to do “God’s work” and get the Salary as well as “Bonus”. The worldly benefits enjoyed by Muslims after earning Halal ways are like routine Salary and having things after this life are like Annual Bonus which you get every year. So when a person can wait for a Bonus which he has not SEEN yet then why a Muslim can trust in word of God which are most authentic than any word on earth that he would get the benefit. As Allah says in Quran himself:

“Indeed We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand.” [ 40:51]

    Another

“And whoever is an ally of Allah and His Messenger and those who have believed – indeed, the party of Allah – they will be the predominant.” [al-Ma’idah 5:56]

You have right to refute every thing but don’t give other reason to laugh at you for your ignorance. If Godforbid you are calling “MUllah” to God then better God deal with you while He can do it much better way than others. May God show you guidance. Ameen

    Great sentiments.
True teachings of Islam should be promoted by all the Muslims in this world which include denouncing all forms of terrorism.
Unfortunately, a lot of Muslim world is just lost in celebrating but they have forgotten the significance of this holy day. Celebrating this day should remind all Muslim world about the peaceful teachings of Islam portrayed in the life of Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). His message was of love, peace, respect and harmony. May Allah guide us all towards right path. Amen.
I also join Ms. Shehnaz Latif in strongly condemning the ongoing attacks on Ahmadiyya Muslim Community most recently in Indonesia. This is completely against Islam and the teachings of the Holy Prophet (peace be on him). Governments of countries like Pakistan and Indonesia that call themselves Muslims should be ashamed of the fact that they repeatedly FAIL to protect their citizens and FAIL to take any action against the attackers.
World’s negative views about Islam will never change if Muslim powers of this world will sit quietly in response to incidents like this.
