In hot Pakistani summers, some of our readers must have experienced swimming and jumping in a canal in Pakistan. Following photo is from Larkana, Pakistan. On May 07, 2009 these youngsters are seen enjoying the canal waters. Photographer is Nadeem Akhtar.

It is indeed wonderful. From my own memory, I remember bathing in the cool waters of an electric tube-well at Pabbi (just outside Peshawar) in the month of June. At another time I remember going for a picnic outside Faisalabad (Gatwala) to a canal and bringing mangoes with us. Thus when I saw following photos in the news media, I can tell how much fun these guys must be having. Water in some of these canals, however, does not look very clean.

When Pakistanis make up their mind to work for the betterment of society then there is no limit to what we can achieve. This is not just a patriotic statement that I came up with. Examples of such benevolence and welfare projects are all around us. As part of our ‘Inspiration Pakistan’ series today we will introduce a project where a group of dedicated people have built a whole new Welfare City in rural Sindh. With facilities spread over approximately 100 acres, this complex is called Rashidabad.

Rashidabad is located near Tando Allahyar in Sindh. Tando Allahyar itself is located between Hyderabad (37 km) and Mirpur Khas (32 km).
