Following photo appeared in Dawn of January 13, 2008. It shows yet another use of rickshaw. After a sudden drop in winter temperature, this guy bought a water heating geyser from Saddar, Karachi and is seen hauling it in the ever-versatile carrier of Pakistan, the rickshaw.

The Jet Rickshaw?
When I first saw the title photo of this post, it reminded me of an episode from ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ children series about a jet engine. That is why I decided to name our Rickshaw as a jet rickshaw in the title. When you see the following video, especially from timeline 1 min 45 sec onwards, you’ll see the resemblance and you will know what I am talking about.
At ATP we’ve had a special fascination for a Pakistani Rickshaw. Here are some related ATP posts on rickshaw:
1. Rickshaw for transporting Fresh Chicken meat,
2. Rickshaw as a moving billboard,
3. Rickshaw transporting another Rickshaw,

It was a great journey of yours
What’s special about this? 100 people on a bus, overloaded donkey carts, trucks bursting with cargo are all every day sights on the streets of urban Pakistan.

there can be so much done with the help of the good ole rickshaw. I remember there was this one time when I went with my mom and phoppi to buy a bakra for eid. We were 5 ppl in all (me, mom, phuppo, my brother and cousin). We brought the bakara in a rickshaw. Can you imagine that… 3 ppl along with that animal in back seat and 3 ppl in front (add the driver).
hehe….”
Yousuf your post brings a smile on this otherwise dull and drab day and also some memories of my own about rickshaws including the time 6 of us school friends taking a “day off” from school got into a rickshaw and had him take us to Kemari so that we could catch the ferry to Manora. We encouraged the driver to go full speed and take corners on 2 wheels, not that he needed that much encouragement in the first place ! I cringe when I think of that trip and what it could have been but ofcourse at the time it was great fun.
