Sometimes comedy, even if the subject is political, is exactly that and no more. Comedy. Something designed to make us smile. maybe, laugh. This is one of those cases.

Produced by a comedy site called 23/6, this comedy video condenses CNN’s news show The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer into one minute. The site does this to many shows, including Fox’s O’Reilly Factor, regularly The Situation Room, and much much more. Amongst the many episodes of The Situation Room that they do this to was the July 28 episode with the Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani.

The part with PM YRG starts at the 20 second mark and it comes out looking quite hilarious.

Those making these videos, the purpose is humor and if anything the target of the humor is the US media and US politicians; so, as you view this please remember its comedy and no more.

Though intended as comedy, it’s not far from reality. Pakistan’s current prime minister is a polite gentleman but he lacks any substance. And, in my humble opinion, it’s not just the language ability. I think it’s the intellect, unfortunately.

At least YRG comes across as son-of-the-soil. There’s much more honor and respect in rustic, clueless responses, than the twisted, prevarications of a Hussain Haqqani (with biwi sporting latest Prada bag) or a Maleeha Lodhi - delivered in a winding, ostentatious “queen’s English”. This obsession with image is misplaced. Diplomats and politicians don’t have to be impressive - they just need to be effective. Just ask Laloo Prasad Yadav - he’s the subject of a Harvard B-School study. Conversely, listening to the beguiling Queen Rania doesn’t mean Jordan (or Kuwait) suddenly became a liberal democracy - she’s just lipstick on the pig.

Did you all watch Gilani on CSPAN during this speech cum Q&A at CFR with Richard Hass? It was hilarious in another way. You can draw your own conclusions.

Nice clip. BTW, the “Situation Room” is one of the worst “news” programs on t.v. these days. It’s amazing how an AIPAC lobbyist can convert himself into the top “unbiased” journalist for the largest news organization in the world.

This is really funny. Thanks for posting.

Actually the clip about the tax discussion is the funniest. Wolf B. is a little too fast forward even when he is not in fast forward.
