Owais Mughal

Following is the text of a leaflet that will be be dropped in Mehsud areas in coming days. The text is both in Urdu and Pashto. Urdu part is shown here.
Clicking on the text image to the left will take you to its source webpage where you can view both Urdu and Pashto versions.

This is a positive gesture in my view and may counter the propaganda which local people are subjected to by the enemies of Pakistan. One has to distinguish between good guys and bad guys here and try to get as many good guys on your side as possible. English translation of the message is given below:

My Message to the Proud Mehsud Tribes: I admit that all of our tribal areas including Mehsuds are faithful to Pakistan and they have always worked for the defense of Pakistan as volunteers.

The aim of current military operation is not to attack proud and patriotic Mehsuds but it is to save them from the clutches of ruthless terrorists who have destroyed peace of the whole region. Therefore the aim of this operation will be Uzbek terrorists, foreign terrorists and local terrorists.

Miltary’s aim is to let Mehsuds live in their area in peace. I am hopeful that Mehsud tribes will side with Pakistan military in this operation and will rise as one against these ruthless terrorists so that Pakistan’s green crescent flag will once again flutter in Mehsud lands with full glory. God Bless you. with best wishes. Gen Ashfaq Kayani. Long live Pakistan. Long Live Pak Military and Long Live Mehsud tribes.

This is NOT a campaign aginst the Mehsuds. Its against enemies of Pakistan, the terrorists.

But the battle also ahs to be against all those who are indirectly supporting the Taliban by making excuses for them. And that means also TV idiots like Hamid Mir and Zaid Hamid.

The Government or President should have politicaly brought these tribes on board or atleast announced something similar on the tele.
Fact is the politicians in Pakistan have no brains at all. They are the most corrupt group of people in the world who buy votes, deceive the whole nation with scams and then claim to be innocent.

@Brian, Pakistanies are lovly people; intelligent, hardworking, charity alot and want to live in peace with everyone but what you see is the result of same corrupt politicians governing pakistan for last two decades who had left no hope for people and some have gone to extremes in disappointment..
And No, you are mislead. Laws of Allah say ‘a killer must be hanged as killing one person is like killing whole mankind’ and islam says ‘even when you go to war (jihad), do not harm children or women or elderly or those who do not hold arms.’ and Allah rewards forgiving people.

Difference between Saudia and Pakistan is that Pakistan is neighbour of lawless Afghanistan and Pakistan has 8 million afgan refuges (result of coldwar). Saudia, Ameria and Pakistan gathered and trained fighters against USSR in afganistan and after the cold war Saudia and Ameria had achieved their goals and left Pakistan alone with these people who knew nothing but to wage a gurila war. If afghanistan was neighbouring country of Saudia or turkey, you would have seen more scary situations. Pakistanies have always been frustated with this situation while external interference, poor governance and poor economy has pushed some people to extremes…

You should also remember that all 9/11 terrorists were arabs and non Pakistani.

My hopes have always been with Pakistan army and I hope once they have cleared Pak of foreign fighters and killed Talibans there will be no reason for American drones, no reason for India to blame Pakistan and no reason for you to think of Pakistan as a trouble country.

    To Rizwan:

“Your good intentions notwithstanding, I am appalled by such statements. Do you mean to say that it would have been alright if their victims had been children and women of a different religion?”

I am not sure why my post did not appear so I am posting it again.

I should have made my point clearer in my previous post. The answer to your question is ‘ofcourse not!’. I was referring to the Taliban and they are killing fellow Muslims right now, but I am against any crimes vs any innocents be it American, Pakistani or Indian.

Islam does not teach to kill innocent people. Period.

    To Ibrahim:

“Is that so? Where did it say in the Qur’an or the hadith that Islam is all about democracy? In order to please who you might think is a Westerner (Brian) don’t commit the heinous sin of speaking about Islam without knowledge.

So, you’re telling us that Allah teaches us to let the people decide if they like or dislike the laws Allah revealed Himself or let the people decide if they want to implement or not the laws that Allah Himself revealed?”

What I meant by Islam is all about democratic values is that first, there is no compulsion in Islam. Secondly, it does not matter of which Religion background you are, you are always treated fairly in Islam. Unfortunately, the Christians that were burned alive few weeks ago wont think so now. Thirdly, Islam is all about freedom of speech unlike in today’s Muslim world where women dont have a say. The Muslim Women of the past played a significant part. They had a voice. In fact more than that, they were responsible for big decisions making. Today, is not the case. Hence my point that Islam is all about democratic values. In fact, it is even better!

It is true that I dont have great knowledge of Islam but I do know that what I have stated are facts. Hope I have not pissed anyone off.

To RIZWAN, who said: “Your good intentions notwithstanding, I am appalled by such statements. Do you mean to say that it would have been alright if their victims had been children and women of a different religion?”

Of course not! I should have made my post clearer.

I was responding to a comment regarding ‘fellow Muslims the terrorists’ and since they are killing fellow Muslims right now, hence my post.

But let’s be clear. Islam is against ALL crimes vs innocent people. Does not matter which color, religion one belongs to.

    - “inshAllah the enemies will Perish”
    - “Now lets just hope we can deal well with the IDPs from Waziristan. DI Khan seems to be full and ill equipped. Treating them well is crucial to retain and evoke the sense of patriotism for pakistan in these people. Terrorists or not, the army is going after their people. The govt and the entire nation needs to evoke a lot of sympathies and sense of ‘unity’ with the rest of the country in the tribal folks for the success of this operation in the long and short terms.”
    - “Good letter but as stated above the effective and timely treatment of the IDPs will be critical to ensuring tribal loyalty.”
    - “Pakistan Zindabad, Pakistan Paindabad !!!”
