Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has recently released the university rankings of Pakistan. The rankings are generating so much interest that I am receiving four to five emails daily with people forwarding me the same link to HEC’s ranking web page. (Scroll down to see rankings and details).
I am kind of disappointed with my alma-mater, NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, ranked at number 10 out of the 13 Engineering Universities of Pakistan. The photo to the right-below shows few views of NED University.
I genuinely and of course with a little bias think that NED university should have been ranked among the top 3. When I make such claim; I do it on the basis of sheer engineering talent I’ve personally seen at NED. But rankings do not take into account the student talent. They look at finances, faculty, number of students etc. My university mates as well as the university officials have already started the discussion on how to improve the rankings next year. This discussion is going on at many NED online alumni groups. I am sure similar discussions are going on within other university alumni too. This I think, is a positive sign of publishing a list like this as it does create competition.

Assalam-o- Ailikum!
I have recently done with my HSC examanation and now preparing for the aptitude test for NED, I was shocked to see NED “thye symbol of engineering education in Karachi” lacking behind in the rankings and not geeting the quality mark as it should have and I think that is not good for the students of Karachi …….Well I can hope so that ranking should not effect a person`s engineering carreir who has graduated from NED.
i am a student of superior university lahore i am doing bba from here what is my future will i take good job or not but i can say one thing about superior thats its studies is very good and it will go to top in pakistan
what is the rank of ned in the pakistan ranking??
i like take interest in international islamic university islamabad what so ever i think that IIUI should No.1 in General ranking
i would like to say that GIKI is one of the best institutions of engineering and technology in asia our seniors get jobs during their final years it is not conidered good for parties to choose institutions but still parties prefer fresh graduates from GIKI(Engineers), LUMS(Ecnomists and MBAs), FAST (CS) which are basically private institutions but are considered to be the most prestigious ones among all other institutes in asia if HEC representitves really visited GIKI and looked over all the facilities they would have never ranked it # 3 although they have done so students still prefer GIKI over NUST & UET (Lahore)
