No, it is not Iraq. Yes, the blog is called ‘All Things Pakistan.’ Here is a hint: We have been talking about this place recently on ATP.

I believe its a railway station somewhere in Pakistan
Adil
The rulers of princely state of Bahawalpur had this habit of naming places on their lands on the names of arab world. I believe Roshan Malik has guessed it right. It is baghdad-ul-jadeed. Next to Baghdad station was another Arabic sounding railway station called kut-al-Imara. today these names sound so distant and so out of place.
From Kut-al-Imara, a railway track used to connect directly to Fort Abass. During World War II, when rails were needed on Burma front, this section got uprooted and all the rails got transferred to eastern front. The station Kut-al-Imara also got closed after that. Baghdad station is still functional.
I am not sure where the picture was taken, but there is a town by the name Bughdad near the city of Mardan in NWFP. Locally they call it Bughdada. Just for the record, the name of the town has noting to do with the international politics of the last 2-3 dacades.
I think its Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Railways Station near Bahawalpur.
Wow. Well its a railway station. And if we have been talking about it, then maybe in Balochistan with Chapper?
