Another suicide bombing kills two in Hungoo. But if it’s getting annoying for the “blame everything on America and Jews” crowd, I’ll just stop counting.
btw, if American media could build a case to force government policy, America would be out of Iraq, would have socialized medicine and Bush would have been impeached already.
Yeah, good point… the repercussions of such an act could be enormous… the Chomsky reference is a good one… I keep reading comments by Americans on the internet along the lines of “if they can’t fix their own backyard we have to go do it”… yet again, to use yet another beaten-to-death line, the chickens are here to roost, and they are roosting loud and clear… I think this regime and any regime that follows is in a no-win situation… damned if they do, and damned if they don’t… if they try to fix the Federally Administered Trouble Areas, there will be a backlash, and if they don’t, the Americans will try to, provoking an even bigger backlash… just goes to show how this should’ve never been allowed to happen…
On a side note, there is an editorial in the Daily Times about the extremist attempts to hit the PPP:
Bhindigosht,
Good observation! Jang reported the same yesterday. I don’t think American troops will actually move in. They’ll do the aerial bombing while Musharraf’s troops do the ground fighting. This is just my feeling.
The two recently delivered F16s may also see some action, pleasing US to send more.
This is not related to the above post, but has anyone noticed the US media slowly building a case for American troops going into FATA? The way the whole thing is unfolding in the media is almost a textbook example of Noam Chomsky’s “Manufacturing Consent”.
While All Things Pakistan has remained alive and online, it has been dormant since June 11, 2011 - when, on the blog's 5th anniversary, we decided that it was time to move on. We have been heartened by your messages and the fact that a steady traffic has continued to enjoy the archived content on ATP.
While the blog itself will remain dormant, we are now beginning to add occasional (but infrequent) new material by the original authors of the blog, mostly to archive what they may now publish elsewhere. We will also be updating older posts to make sure that new readers who stumble onto this site still find it useful.
We hope you will continue to find ATP a useful venue to reflect upon and express your Pakistaniat. - Editors
