Lately no news coming out of Pakistan seem to be good news. This afternoon I started writing about Benazir’s return in lighter words focusing on hilarious statements coming out of our politicians on her return and then this horrific news of scores of people dead started coming in. My lighter mood vanished totally and now I am left wihout words and more questions like, Why? Who? what now? etc.
The headline news on CNN reads as follows right now:
An explosion near the motorcade of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto killed at least 110 people and injured 200 more, officials say. Bhutto, returning after years in exile, reportedly was unhurt.
While we are glad that she remained safe, our sincere prayers are with those innocents who lost their lives.

@Pejamistri,
If being rational requires one to be paranoid and believe in James Bond like fantasies, then I am happy being irrational.
If agencies were so good at their job then Miss Bhutto would be having tea with her father today or maybe several years ago. Have the courage to call spade a spade my friend.
If the president, prime minister and the interior minister can be targeted by bombings even with their security protocol numerous times by the terrorists then why is it so hard to believe that the same terrorists can target a pro American liberal politician? or do you think the “agencies” planned the assassination attempts on the government officials too ?
The hype created about BB’s arrival by the Media was also disgusting especially Geo’s Kamran Khan was looking persistently over excited by rendering the word ‘awan ki taqat’ perhapes more than a thousand times during Geo’s live coverage of the events. She was being portrayed as a real saviour of the nation whom the nation waited for, all these years. One feels sympathy for the innocents who lost their lives for someone not so real. It is beyond logic what compelled so many people to grather and greet BB ignoring her credentials and past record. They might have been manipulated for one reason or the other, otherwise, a procession of 35 or something lacs … impossible to be kept secure ….
It is another sad day for Pakistan. It is even sadder to learn that so many of us prefer to indulge in hair-splitting to defuse the blame from the culprits, rather than condemning the act of terrorism outright.
This act of terrorism (there is no question about it) that took so many lives is condemnable without any IFs or BUTs. No doubt, it is terrorists Vs Pakistanis now. Unless, we start condemning terrorism unequivocally and confront it all levels, the country
Just got few questions, and wonder who would answer them?
Did BB knew about the threats from militants? Did she get notice from Mush “not to return”? Why such a big prosession? Why it took so long for prosession? Why there was such a big amount of security guards? Why there was bullet proof case? Why BB was downstairs at that moment? and the biggest of all … Why prosessions were not stopped by force as in the case of Nawaz Sharif?
If we could get the answers to all these, would might un-veil the true pictures of “our leaders”.
