Mast Qalandar

Geo News is back on cable TV in Pakistan! It was banned along with two other popular TV channels on November 3 last year when Emergency was imposed in the country.

We don’t know on what conditions the channel has been allowed to operate again. We also don’t know how much dent the 77-day ban must have made in the profitability of the news company — it must be pretty huge — or to the livelihood of the journalists working for it.

But we do know that the ban made a huge dent in the government’s credibility and the image of “enlightened moderation” that it was so eager to project. It also left in its wake numerous angry messages and slogans on the wallboards outside the Geo office in Islamabad. They do give you a flavor of the general feelings prevailing at the time in a large segment of the civil society.

The photos with this post are here for you to decipher them, enjoy them, add to them, or ignore them.

AJ@: I don’t know how and when you associate me with Re. any way it’s your call, and I can’t say any thing about it.

BTW you don’t have to convince me about you being very liberal. I don’t differentiate b/w liberals and conservative. But I do of course differentiate people who do discrimination on the basis of race and religion. This forum and GEO attacks Musharf and army on one hand and then supports fascist and dictator parties like PPP who threats every day to break Pakistan openly? What is that? Would you “socrates” or should I say “Chosen one” explain me the logic becuase I am too naive to understand it.

Gen Parvez Musharaf was banned on the most fammous TV stations, GEO TV is one of them in this list because GEO says truth and straight forword words to any news. The banned on GEO TV in the month of October, in this case two others channels are also closed. The two other channels are open earliar, but GEO TV was not open with them. Finally on 20 of jan 2008 Pervez Musharraf deal to GEO TV.
I am sure GEO finally agreed to Musharaf

    RJ says:

The people who hates Musharaf are either religious extremist, or ethnic zealous

@Rizwan: I do echo what ever you said on this forum. But as you know people in this forum are too biased against Musharaf, and doesn’t matter how hard you try to convince them logically they won’t going to accept the fact. I bet my life on this hypothesis “The people who hates Musharaf are either religious extremist, or ethnic zealous” either way they are not wise enough or honest enough to convince. You know what is so ironic (it is so thick we can choke on it) , people who accuses Musharaf of being an ally of MQM are themselves ethnic zealous, and they and MQM are the different side of same coin.
