Adil Najam
Saw this picture in Daily Times and actually laughed out loud. How much more Pakistani could a bakra be, than riding on a rickshaw with its head sticking out.
Not sure what the title of the picture should be. Maybe you can help.

Oops…not 5%, but 20% of greenhouse gas is generated by life stock production, more than transportation!
Found this out from http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/mark_bittman_on _what_s_wrong_with_what_we_eat.html
Its a great talk definitely worth listening to. Even if you don’t become a vegetarian, you will definitely take a long serious look at what you eat. We as a nation consume way too much junk and it will be really nice to see some change.
@ShahidnUSA: I totally agree with you! Though I am afraid nearly nobody else will :-)
I know its a religious thing, but this mass slaughtering of animals has started bothering me lately. Not just muslims, humanity as a whole is eating and sacrificing way too many animals and its not healthy for the planet. Animals are usually maltreated, tortured, and way too many of them are produced which is a burden on the ecological system. Heck, and this is not intended to be funny, we are raising so many cows now that cow fart accounts for about 5% of the overall pollution!
Other than this, like Anwar stated, its money that goes down the drain. Plus, the meat is ***unhealthy*** for you.
I have met only one or two muslim vegetarians….lol, perhaps because eating meat is such a part of our religion. The khateeb at last Friday’s khutbah was saying that its an ’emphasized’ sunnat. I am not a religious scholar, but if its not a sin not to sacrifice or anything, then less number of slaughterings can be good for the economy, for our health and for the animals!
:-)
