Adil Najam
Today is 12 Rabi-ul-Awal – and Eid Milad-un-Nabi – marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
I sit at the airport in New York awaiting my PIA flight to Lahore to be announced, knowing that the whole country will be decked up and glowing for the occasion. Cannot wait to be part of the festivities. On this, the birthday of the Rehmatulil Aalameen, I pray and wish for rehmat not only for the Prophet’s believers in Pakistan, but for all people in Aalameen. It seems to me that to personalize His (PBUH) rehmat as if it were only for the few who we think “got” the message right, is – it seems to me – to miss the entire message itself.
So, today, on this Eid Milad-un-Nabi, I pray in the name of the Rehmatulil Aalameen (PBUH) for rehmat for all aalameen, and for all people everywhere. May they – may we – be all blessed with peace.
To me part of the memories of Eid Milad-un-Nabi in Pakistan was always the amazingly powerful devotional poetry of the naat – and none better than from Muzaffar Warsi, who died recently. It is apt, then, to share one of his most famous naats on this auspicious day.
Glad you fixed the video link. This is an amazing naat. One of the best ever.
@Shahnaz Latif – I hear your concern. The thugs who are ruining the image of Islam are running a business. to keep their costs low, they need volunteers to do their dirty deeds and what better technique can they use than the fear of God to lower innocent beings into their trap. Fear of God is an excellent and a free marketing tool that anyone can use to spread their message and gain strength of illiterate and innocent God fearing human beings who have no idea that God loves them more than He can ever hate them. All the unfortunate and bad things that have happened to people around them, they interpret as punishment from God instead of using brain to get to the actual root cause of the problem and fix it themselves. Praying to God to fix problem hasnt worked in centuries and will not work for centuries to come. If you think Allah is only on the Muslims side, then why is it the Atheists, Jews, Christians, Hindus are the most succesfull people in the world and Muslims are so behind. Please dont lie to yourself and say that “Muslims will be rewarded after life”… How can we say that when we cannot even see what would happen after life? This vision of reward after life is another free Marketing tool that Mullahs/thugs use for their corrupt deeds. Its just like, I hire someone to work for me and I tell him that I’ll pay your salary after you are dead and I promise i’ll make you an awesome house that you cannot even dream of.
Islam is religion of peace. . In Quran Allah “Says, `We believe in ALLAH and that which has been revealed to us, and that which was revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and in that which was given to Moses and Jesus and other Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them and to HIM we submit.” (Qur’ân 3-85) and in chapter 2 verse 257 Allah says “There should be no compulsion in religion”. As muslim we should respect all prophets and their teaching.
Terrorism, violence and hatred is not the teaching of Islam. The fanatic group of Muslims is ruining the peaceful religion, Islam. The islam teaches or explained by clerics (Mullah) is the wrong interpretation of islam.
I condemn this recent horrific and barbarous attack on innocent Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, in Indonesia and in a very strong term. This is a very sad incident; the authorities have no power to control the Mob?
Indonesia’s and pakistan’s government claiming it self a Muslim Country than they should know that Allah says in Holy Quran, “Whosoever killed a person — unless it be for killing a person or for creating disorder in the land — it shall be as if he had killed all mankind; and whoso gave life to one, it shall be as if he had given life to all mankind. (Ch.5, verse 33)
The Mullah claiming that we are Muslim, we Love and respect The Holy prophet Mohammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) but their actions is totally against of his teaching and his practice. What is happening in these countries in the name of Islam? Is this the teaching of Islam to kill innocent peoples? Islam is religion of peace, love and tolerance. Are they forgetting the life of our Beloved, Respected Holy Prophet (peace & blessing of Allah be upon him). What he did at the time of the conquest of Mecca, how he treated his enemies.. Did he not forgave every one that day even the woman name Hinda who disrespect the dead body of his uncle Hazrat Hamza. Is there any example of his revenge to any human being? He was the mercy for all mankind (Rahmat-ul-lilalami) May Allah give them wisdom and strength to fight against the falsehood and follow the true teaching of Islam. Our motto should be, “love for All Hatred for None”.
How about posting Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) last sermon on this day.

The best way to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (the birth day of the Prophet) is to read the teachings of the Prophet and pledge to follow what Prophet has preached.
