Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has recently released the university rankings of Pakistan. The rankings are generating so much interest that I am receiving four to five emails daily with people forwarding me the same link to HEC’s ranking web page. (Scroll down to see rankings and details).
I am kind of disappointed with my alma-mater, NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, ranked at number 10 out of the 13 Engineering Universities of Pakistan. The photo to the right-below shows few views of NED University.
I genuinely and of course with a little bias think that NED university should have been ranked among the top 3. When I make such claim; I do it on the basis of sheer engineering talent I’ve personally seen at NED. But rankings do not take into account the student talent. They look at finances, faculty, number of students etc. My university mates as well as the university officials have already started the discussion on how to improve the rankings next year. This discussion is going on at many NED online alumni groups. I am sure similar discussions are going on within other university alumni too. This I think, is a positive sign of publishing a list like this as it does create competition.

which university is better for management field
Hey could some1 tell me how is GCU lahore for mphil in env sciences and if there is any other better uni?
I feel really obliged to see Iqra Univeristy on this list.
I would like to tell that i am a final year student of Iqra University from the department of Media Science. All my time here, i have scored a well acknowledged CGPA of 3.2 with my own hardwork, and i dont remember seeing anyone fail just like that for “GENERATING REVENUES”. thats insane,im sorry. i have seen, however, students failing because of their shortage of attendance and also because of their misbehaviour.
As for the teacher here, ofcourse favourtism varies from teacher to teacher and course to course. but all what we have been taught here is relevant and understandable. something that we can apply later on in the relative field. I am very content with all the teachers here. Faisal Qureshi is one of the really good teachers here. I once had a problem with one of my business course i was doing with the MBA’s and he took his time out to make sure my problem was solved. What more can one ask for?
I have no idea what kind of trauma did miss XYZ go through, but saying like that about a proper university is plain crap.
Ofcourse we all have our differences but that doesnt alter the fact that Iqra is a well established, resourceful University.
As far as “jobs” is concerned, i would just like to mention that i have also done an internship at InterFlow. and i have volunteered for a lot of other events at art council all through University’s source.

internation islamic uni is good but its test system is very bad
Private Universities in Pakistan are just doing business. They are not interested in education for the sake of education. As far as my knowledge about these universities is concerned, they are just producing degree holders not scholars. No one get fails even with few days attendence in the class in a full academic session. The libraries, labs, and other academic facilites are sub-standards. There is little check and balance over these universities by the HEC. This check and balance is just a bureaucratic process and a formality only.Though entry/admission tests are conducted but merit at the time of admission is never strictly observed. Those having money can get admission. Poor can not think even visiting these universites and taking admission there is a far cry for such guys. If you have strong PR plus money you can buy a degree even in the back date. I would also like to mention here that this is not the case of all private sector universites, but fair universities committed to the quality of education for the sake of education are only a few. Majority of the Universities are earning a good business only. They can not be called universities in the full sense of the word. (May be some people will disagree with my these comments, but it is only an observation of mine)

NEDUET was ranked 11th in this ranking… no regrets, this list shows how bribe has been given to HEC for such damn ranking. Mehran university…. the worst one has been ranked 5th… NEDUET and DUHS are the two best universities of Engineering and Health sciences respectively and everyone admits that. so u be happy with ur ranking but value of students of these institutes has not changed a bit by this fake ranking.
