ek nuktay ne mehram se mujrim kar dia
hum dua likhtay rahay woh daghaa paRhtay rahay

When I first saw it, the phrase ‘Don’t tuch me’ got me laughing for many seconds. I found it written on a Suzuki pick-up while I was passing through Super Market, Liaquatabad, Karachi on the afternoon of December 30, 2006. The painter had almost got it. Just one letter went missing.

As I moved my camera up a little bit on the same Suzuki pick-up I saw the following scene. Aaah. Just one letter missing again. ‘Banaras Khan’ became ‘Banars Khan’.

On a different topic, also note how the back cabin of this Suzuki has been secured using a metal bars and a lock.

Pinglish, Spanglish, Taiish, Frenchish, Italianish, Hindiish…whatever…it’s all good. At least it shows we are all trying to communicate…give it a little, take a little! lol =)

@PMA and thats quite unfortunate, isnt it. And who is supposed to write books in Punjabi? the french?
By the way I did not oppose reading any kind of books in english or any other langauge for that matter. Hence learning other languages, specialy english is highly favourable.

Good one Eidee Man :) no yaar I did not mean Iran. They happen to be extremly content and overly proud with their own culture and language and have no concept of a second language in their society. I did not mean Afghanistan either, because they will probably think about petty issues like this one the moment they stop fighting with each other. Now that leaves us with only one “friend” from across the border.

Alvi saab, my intention was not to shift the focus of this discussion from Pakistan to elsewhere, I am just asking a question regarding the topic of this discussion.

    “forgetting punjabi altogether.”

Babar: Do you know of any books of modern subjects in Punjabi?

Allah Vasaya: Could we keep this discussion ‘Pakistan centric’ and not degenerate it like other posts here. Thanks.

Eidee Man: Not only Iran, But Turkey and Central Asian Republics could be our friends too. Question is have we ever sincerely tried it. We are too busy sparing on the eastern border that we have forgotten that there is an other world to our west that we know very little of. Do we realize that Tajikistan is only eighteen miles away from our border but we have very little interaction with that state yet our enemies have heavy diplomatic presence in that country.

“Just for my info, is Pinglish only limited to Pakistanis, because our friends across the border have something called “Hinglishâ€Â?, are they not the same?”

We have friends across the border..?? Iran? :-)

Pinglish is interesting because it brings smile to the face. It is one of the lighter sides of life. Nothing wrong with it but an interesting observation to see a language’s evolution.
