Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has recently released the university rankings of Pakistan. The rankings are generating so much interest that I am receiving four to five emails daily with people forwarding me the same link to HEC’s ranking web page. (Scroll down to see rankings and details).
I am kind of disappointed with my alma-mater, NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, ranked at number 10 out of the 13 Engineering Universities of Pakistan. The photo to the right-below shows few views of NED University.
I genuinely and of course with a little bias think that NED university should have been ranked among the top 3. When I make such claim; I do it on the basis of sheer engineering talent I’ve personally seen at NED. But rankings do not take into account the student talent. They look at finances, faculty, number of students etc. My university mates as well as the university officials have already started the discussion on how to improve the rankings next year. This discussion is going on at many NED online alumni groups. I am sure similar discussions are going on within other university alumni too. This I think, is a positive sign of publishing a list like this as it does create competition.

im surprised to see NUST 2nd in the ranking…IT SHUD BE FIRST!!!!!
The whole cream of students from Punjab (which is largest province in population, therefore, largest in number of inter boards, therefore, producer of greatest number of board toppers) comes to UET Lahore. Weightage to standard of intake students should be increased while ranking universities.
UETIANS are dominant in performance in every field of engineering…
UET IS THE BEST OF THE BESTS….
i m doing mechanical engg in uet taxila.my univeristy is the best in pakistan for mechanical engg.
Pieas, might be ranked as number one Engineering university in the Hec ranking but people don’t know that it might be the worst experience ever in their academic career.! Especially to the guys thinking of going for MS(System Engg) at pieas must think twice about joining it or at least meet the poor souls who are stuck in this hell in pieas. Teachers in Electrical Department are worst than anything except for one or two, 69 credit hours in all master programme as compared to 30 credit hours in other universities double triple you miseries, think about it!, they will suck your soul for giving you just a petty Rs 10,000. The sword of dropping out in always hanging on the head of students even the good ones , Just think about this last session 50 students came in the zero semester ,Now in third there are 22 left in the MS(system Engg). I’ll sugest if you are
a Nescom Fellow don’t even think about ruining your career .
Asslam-o-Alaikum to Pakistanis……
I’m student of Information Technology in University of Peshawar. Really, reading here is a charm and providing enthusiasm for those who seek their obligatory goals and set them on top priority lists.I did my 4 year graduation program from the above mentioned and want to pursue my further studies with proceedings of MS. The teachers, the environment, the discipline, the society, the students and the courses….thus nothing can be taken as granted and they are all out of retrospective. thanks to ALLAH who provide me the opportunity studying here. anyone wanna acquire some challenging careeer in any field, is always warm-welcomed in Peshawar university. so come and build your future on aptitude basis. Quality is the motto of my institute. If you dont trust me, bring out few hours from your busy life one day and visit the University of Peshawar. thanks…. chheers.
